When liverpool are hovering 'below the salt' they quite often give away draws or even losses to teams they are expected to beat, and then when all the doomsayers are giving it large, out they trot and stuff the likes of ManU and Chelsea: which is precisely the scenario we have in front of us. They lose/draw at Bolton then triumph over Citeh on Wednesday and Mank on Saturday.

Re: Game Against The Scouse
Still buzzing after this win.
Reo-Coker was absolutely everywhere. Some much energy and drive. Real captains performance. Muamba was his usual busy self, getting in people's faces, forcing errors.. His passing was very good too. Mark Davies had possibly his best game since his first start in a white shirt. Tremendous.
Eagles and Petrov were both effective. MP worked hard at stopping the usually dangerous Johnson from getting past the halfway line and offered good width on the left. Eagles is as deadly as he is infuriating. Great vision for the second goal and was a constant menace for Enrique. His last ball too often lets him down though.. Still a good 7/8 out of 10 though.
Bogdan has made it very difficult to let Jussi back in. How strange, yet delightful is it to see a 'keeper coming out and claiming corners / set pieces?
Whole back 4 were solid, except for the goal. If one goes for the header, the other has to drop off, especially facing the pace of somebody like Bellamy (w*nker). No other complaints though. Steinsson and Ricketts showed us how much better an option they are to Boyata and Robbo, when they're playing well.
N'gog was a menace too.. held the ball up well, useful in possession. Whilst not being much of a goal threat, as long as he lays it off for others to create goals, then great!
Liverpool were a poor imitation of us, under Allardyce. But with less solidity. I felt sorry for Carrol. He's not experienced enough to play a Davies type role of trying to wrestle for every long hoof up front the back.
All in all, there couldn't have been any complaints had we rattled in 2 or 3 more. We were that good, and they were that bad

Ha, it's true. I'd almost forgotten it to be something goalkeepers do and found myself bursting into wild applause every time he made a simple catch off a corner! I wonder how much of our shite record at defending set pieces this season is down to Jussi's refusal to come and collect?

It's true.. BUT... On the flip side, perhaps Jussi would've been more alert on their goal. Bogdan seemed a little hesitant. Maybe a lack of experience there

at the moment we have two good keepers.
I don't see the need for one to be goody and one baddy.

Re: Game Against The Scouse
Yeah I thought at the time Bellamy took quite a heavy touch and keeper could've thrown himself at his feet a bit more, but the more I think about it:
1 - He was possibly an inch different on his hand from getting enough on it.
2 - That's often how you get yourself sent off.
Maybe the first Macc game where the guy just easily rounded him got in his mind?
Nevertheless Bellamy for his faults is a good player and was odds-on to score it whoever in the world was in our goal.

I thought Bogdan did really well on their goal. He got a hand to it and, if there was an iffy 50/50, do you seriously think he'd have got the benefit of the doubt? If we'd have gone down to 10 with a penalty to face, we'd have been up the creek.
Anyway, none of it matters as we bloody won?!

What a hero, What a man...... Ooooh, what a bad foul...

Big two-page match report in Sun goals. About two inches of it mentioned Bolton. All about Kenny and Liverpool's woes. Nothing new there then.

All media reflection on the game can be summed up thusly, "Take nothing away from Bolton, but Liverpool were dreadful."
But whatever, got bigger battles this season than our reputation in the press.
