Yes, well if you believed Megson he built the Pyramids at Giza...

But no, it was Lee.

Sammy Lee is the man who wanted to sign Keith Gillespie. In case you've all forgotten.

Agree with Bruce - when has that dreadful little scouse git ever done anything worthwhile for BWFC in any of his roles?

Whilst he was a disaster as a manager, would you rather someone with lots of top level coaching experience like Lee, was in charge of developing our young players, or Jimmy Phillips?

Sure its not always clear cut, Phillips may be great, but on balance from an outsiders perspective, I'd rather have someone like Lee, Scouse git that he is, doing that....

Someone like Lee?

Possibly.

Lee himself?

He can f*ck off!

I meant an outsider in the sense of judging the respective coaching abilities of Phillips and Lee.

So as an outsider who doesn't know either, and hasn't first hand knowledge of their abilities, you can only go from their respective coaching careers and experiences. And from that Lee looks the better bet....

4 Managers have been at the club whilst Phillips has been on the coaching staff. Every single one of them thought highly enough of him to keep him at the club. That'll do for me.

Just want the best man for the job. We've hardly had a prolific youth set up in the last few years, so maybe there was some reasoning behind the change?

From memory he was a coach for us when we were doing well, so if he can do some coaching with kids it might be good, especially if he wants to pass the ball, close down the ball, etc.

Heard Phil Brown on the radio the other day, cup replay I think. I've always thought there should be some kind of job for him at the Reebok if he wants it.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Seems to me that Coyle's hated for employing his old (team-)mates then, when there's a chance that he might get upgrade on one of them (Jimmy Phillips), he's hated for that too. Tough life, management.

Wouldn't want to see Jiminho go - is there any evidence at all that that would be the case? - but I can't join in the Two Minutes' Hate for Sammy Lee. He's proved himself as a coach and if it helps bring the kids along then that's fine.

at a club like ours - maybe any club - it's hard to know how an ordinary fan would have much an idea how good an academy coach is or isn't - even a first team coach..

rightly or wrongly we have our benchmarks and measuring sticks for managers - but backroom staff?

I, for one, think it's quite big of Coyle to invite back someone who used to have his job - and quite big of Sam to accept a lesser role at a club where he was once top dog...

not sure I'd like to see Jiminho dumped completely - is he being moved sideways/upways/downways??
