Re: Megson: 'I was told to get out of Europe'
Think the whole thing would be better summed up by everyone saying ' In hindsight the position was never right for either Megson or Bolton Wanderers but both parties have learned from the experience and would not make the same mistakes again' .
This would let everyone have some dignity, which seems to be very short supply around the professional football community. Perhaps people should simply live with the Idea 'If you haven't got anything constructive to say, say nothing!'
It must be hard work carrying all that anger around!

Well sorry but I find that total CRAP! Football is a spectator sport with fans wanting success of some sorts along the way! Denying the chance to create history which more than likley will never be repeated with a club like ours IS NOTHING SHORT OF FECKIN' CONTEMPT FOR THE FANS! In your many "chats" with Garty Mr Nixon how many other dispicable offences are lurking beneath the surface? how many more times has he "took the piss"?BWFC_Insane wrote:Cos his boss has put 100M into the club and told everyone that it was imperative that we stayed up. Spoke to Gartside in Belgrade he pretty much said that they were playing reserve teams cos Eddie wanted the priority to be staying in the league.Owen'sEleven wrote:I have no problem with Megson. Did a job for us, got a bit crap, and then was moved on. No biggie.
Also, if what he's saying is true, should we not be seeing past the knee-jerk reaction of 'Megson is a bad man, and he makes me angry' and ask ourselves: why did our chairman interfere with management decisions, and show a lack of ambition when we could have progressed in a cup?
I think that's the bigger issue here.
It was bloody obvious.
People are given objectives in a job managers of football clubs are no different.
I'm sure Gartside never said "get out of europe" but probably said "prioritise staying up over everything else".

Eddie Davies would have lost a lot of money and will still should we go down. I think its fair enough that he says "this is what we need to do". Gartside as a fan said he loved the European tours but also realised that it actually cost the club financially and that clearly Eddie wants premiership to be priority. I think he has every right to do that when its his money keeping us afloat!

It was a question. I was asking why would anyone do that? And why would you care? If we'd have gone on in the UEFA Cup (and there's no guarantee that we'd have beaten Lisbon had we put out the first team, let alone any guarantee that we'd have beaten our next opponents, or the ones after that...) but gotten relegated, I would have been royally pissed off, and I'm sure I wouldn't have been the only one.

kin ell, he still provokes doesn't he...why give hin the airtime ?
FWIW i imagine it was made clear to him survival was more important, yeah, but i am sure garys (has he reached the end of a gagging order?) memory is different to phils.
for me i would take winning any competition over survival just for the memories but thats just me.

Re: Megson: 'I was told to get out of Europe'
I hate Megson as the much as the rest of you but we never gave him a fair crack of the whip. That isn't to say his sacking wasn't warranted just we were on his back as soon as he came here.
He did a job and we would have probably stayed up the season he was sacked. Its just his way was the most negative turgid football I've ever seen and that ultimately got him the boot.
And judging by the reaction on here I must say football fans have very thin skins, the amount of abuse this guy got at the Reebok was ridiculous at times. I can see why he is bitter about his experience tbh.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Indeed, in the First Division we recorded our first win there in 1906-07, which would make John Somerville the first.bobo the clown wrote:
By the way ... he was NOT the first Bolton manager to get a win at Satan's Nest. Bolton have existed well over 100 years & we have had a win or two before he arrived.

The second bit relates to the first one. He's a c*nt. A massive one. And its old news that he's one. He just keeps confirming it every time he opens his shit spewing gob.
