The Bolton boss said: "I think Darren has probably been a bit frustrated at times this year.
"He is known as an attacking midfielder and he has had chances in various games, hitting the woodwork and seeing goalkeepers make good saves.
"It was great to see him hit the back of the net today and he could have had a hat-trick.
"We made three changes and Darren was one of them, and it was great to see the energy that he brought to the team.

Just going off the commentary, young Riley seemed to be having a very good game and made some good runs forward. Anybody who went care to expand on this a bit?

I'm guessing Mears will probably be on the bench and Riley will continue his development at RB with Boyata partnering Wheater at the back. I assume Ricketts will continue at LB and as for midfield I'd go Petrov, NRC, Pratley, Muamba and Eagles with Klasnic up front.Gail Platz wrote:Play the same team as we did against Liverpool and we'll paste them.
I went to Swansea away this season and there were two places they did us:
1) Nathan Dyer on Paul Robinson
2) Their centre midfield and centre forwards with bags of space
I'm a lot more confident Sam Ricketts can take Dyer, it's a big ask but if we kept Bellamy pretty much quiet then we can do it to Dyer. As for the midfield I expect a lot more work and effort with Muamba in there than that useless tosser Pratley that played at Swansea.
I'm going for another 3-1 to Bolton. Come on whites!

That's pretty much it, did see a guy get in trouble with a steward for putting one foot in the aisle steps at the side of the seats though. Health and safety!TANGODANCER wrote:Just going off the commentary, young Riley seemed to be having a very good game and made some good runs forward. Anybody who went care to expand on this a bit?

nice habit, winning.
Should of scored more though...thats the negative to this451, ngog misses too many chances! We need to get Mark Davies in amongst the goals more.

Crickey they like to play don't they!!
How can a team with a goalkick have 4 players on the edge of their box ASKING for the ball. Complete reluctance to play it long (not a criticism though).
Even with their insistence to play, we did well. Dangerous on the break and with Klas on, I think we'd have buried them 1st half.
A win & a good performance though.
That's all I wanted at 2:55pm.
We got it & that'll do me.
Bring on the Gewners

And so still an excitedly worriedly apprehensively cackingitly part of me is convinced we're destined for the later stages of this competition. The bits that involve Wembley. And Stoke are still in it as well.

Imagine that team in that match at that place again...
I wonder how many would make the trip

Wasn't a great performance but I'm not too bothered as we still won without playing great. We didn't do badly but we were nowhere near at the level we were against Liverpool.
Couldn't believe Pratley scored, I thought 'there must be something not quite right with this goal' then I see on the replay he shouldered the ball into the net! Sums him up really, as did the complete sitter he missed just like the one at Blackburn. Met up with one of my old work pals after the game who's a Swansea fan and he said that's pretty much Pratley in a nutshell.
Can't believe how easy Wheater got done by Luke Moore. Ream must be pissing it.

A full sixty seconds on the ITV Football Round-up. Plenty of the United Liverpool game, ten minutes talking about it, decent length of a couple of other games, and we got sixty seconds. Just the goals.

I'm not bothered, I don't watch ITV sport anyway but if we had anything more than 5 minutes of coverage we probably would have only got something like how Kevin Davies has been an influential performer all season or something as similarly inaccurate.TANGODANCER wrote:A full sixty seconds on the ITV Football Round-up. it's destined to be Liverpool at home in the next round prompting an almighty mediafest hailing "King Kenny's" supreme powers of turning a team of abject losers only two weeks ago into a world-beating footballing powerhouse after beating the two Mancs in a week.

I have a feeling it will be Crawley.
A premonition, I'm so convinced that it's actually rather creepy.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
