To add to the Knight comment, Megson didn't sign Bogdam either. Bogdan signed on 1st August 2007 when Little Sam was in charge.

Megson also signed Rasiak, Riga, Shittu, Smolarek, Makukula, Puygrenier. None of which hardly played a game.

But to even things up I would add Mark Davies and Muamba to his better signings. In Muamba's case we probably paid over the top for him but still a decent signing.

Plus he paid 8-10 million (dependent on the report your read) for Elmander, who had made his name as a cultured deep lying striker in the french league, and played him as a lone striker apparently with orders to battle against two physical centre halves for hoofs out of defence, which you might argue is as non-sensical as trying to defend your reputation by stating you were told to get out of a cup compeition that you actually managed to stay in for most of the season.

The generally accepted truth that Megson did ok in the transfer market is a complete fallacy. He had mounds of cash, which he invested very inconsistently. Some of those players have and/or may turn out to be good investments, but in mitigation he paid top whack for a lot of shit. The evidence that this massive investment lead to a massive improvement in the squad is completely unfounded, and has not a shred of evidence to support it. He just expensively changed the squad whilst pretty much keeping us in the same place.

And he's a massive c*nt.

It's the way he came too that riles. The 'people who know football' will follow Gartside to the grave.

He left LCFC struggling and their fans came on here pishing themselves.
