To add to the Knight comment, Megson didn't sign Bogdam either. Bogdan signed on 1st August 2007 when Little Sam was in charge.

Megson also signed Rasiak, Riga, Shittu, Smolarek, Makukula, Puygrenier. None of which hardly played a game.

But to even things up I would add Mark Davies and Muamba to his better signings. In Muamba's case we probably paid over the top for him but still a decent signing.
Plus he paid 8-10 million (dependent on the report your read) for Elmander, who had made his name as a cultured deep lying striker in the french league, and played him as a lone striker apparently with orders to battle against two physical centre halves for hoofs out of defence, which you might argue is as non-sensical as trying to defend your reputation by stating you were told to get out of a cup compeition that you actually managed to stay in for most of the season.

Surely he's got used to being told to "get out" of places by now?

The generally accepted truth that Megson did ok in the transfer market is a complete fallacy. He had mounds of cash, which he invested very inconsistently. Some of those players have and/or may turn out to be good investments, but in mitigation he paid top whack for a lot of shit. The evidence that this massive investment lead to a massive improvement in the squad is completely unfounded, and has not a shred of evidence to support it. He just expensively changed the squad whilst pretty much keeping us in the same place.

And he's a massive c*nt.

I see he's in the paper today taking credit for Djokovic's win yesterday.
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Aye that was after he won the cricket for Pakistan, spinning England into submission.

Next weekend, he's going to win the Calcutta Cup - once he decides which side to win it for.

Just had a good idea. Let's tell him to get out of Europe.

It's the way he came too that riles. The 'people who know football' will follow Gartside to the grave.

He left LCFC struggling and their fans came on here pishing themselves.

His reigns of terror at Stoke, Blackpool, Stockport, WBA, Forest hardly lit up the football world like a Christmas tree yet he keeps getting jobs.

He's from a select group of managers who, despite all evidence to the contray keep getting jobs.

I fecking hate the man and can't wait to hear that he's been mauled by a leopard.

With the current cloud hanging over the 'Bok it's almost impossible to enjoy a bit of schadenfreude.

Megson jetisons the FA Cup to win an 'vital' league game (Exeter a) and loses it and then follows it up with a home defeat to former European giants Stevenage.

My mood is so bad at the moment that I can't even laugh at him anymore.

We've got to beat Millwall right? Right?

As the thread's bobbed back to the surface: Wonder if Ian Holloway's glad he made seven changes to Blackpool's FA Cup team at Everton, considering they went on to get dry-bummed 4-1 at home to a West Ham team who spent half an hour without a goalkeeper?

It was 2-1 when the 'keeper was sent off on 55 mins too!

So not only did they fail to score past Henri Lansbury, they also conceded another 2 against 10 men.

were we in such a position (ie. goalie gets sent off and no goalie sub on the bench) - who would be our player of choice??

That actually happened, didn't it? I think Bo Hansen went in net. We lost 4-0.

Bo Hansen :D

I see that Allardyce was blaming everyone but himself again, despite having been caught out before when Jaaskelainen got sent off against Newcastle. He really should learn to STF up after matches.

Newcastle at home. ISTR we were already 2-0 down, and Bo made two saves. I certainly recall he had a 50% save rate... and that that was higher than MUFC No.1 Fabien Barthez's 46% 8)
