Zaha not happening according to Nixon.

Sounds like we're done now!

I'll be staggered if we have offered Davies an 18 month deal.

a lot less than that!!
Not when I wrote it

If it's true we've bid £7m for Zaha, I'm worried. I'm trying not to say Len Cantell... oh.

Nixon has said we've not bid 7M for Zaha and anyways, the deal is off.

So I don't think there is a need to worry, apart from our ageing squad, lacking the quality and depth required to stay up. Lots to worry about there....

Chances are someone as raw as Zaha wouldn't have been some sort of expensive silver bullet in the 5 months left this season anyway..

Short termism? Yep.

As predicted, wasted 48 hours chasing someone we had no chance of getting! Couldn't we have done this 2 weeks ago when Cahill was sold?

(according to Nixon - but then he'd have no interest at all in ramping the story up and down for two weeks....)

BTW - whilst chasing someone , doesnt mean we can't also discuss moves with other players and click them into gear when Plan A or B falls away, even on the last day....just saying like.
Even so, we're probably done.

I fail to see the wisdom in that. back then they wanted £10mill. surely it still makes sense to test their resolve when the shadow of the clock falls heavy across the desk??? :conf:

It'll fall on deaf ears Bish.

These people would probably moan that we went in too early (had we got him 2 weeks ago) and say we should go in on deadline day with a low bid to try and get him cheaper.

Perhaps people are just concerned that having been told of the need to "bring one or two in to help us out, on top of Ream" we're getting only a kid to take Kakuta's place on the bench?

I'm genuinely concerned we've not done more.

And I'm not overly bothered about Zaha in particular. More that the inadequacies we've had most of the season simply will remain and we've lost our best defender.

Blow our wad on players we don't really want, just to beef the squad up, of course! D'urrrr

Short-term loans look likeliest. Is this Japanese lad coming up from the Arsenal or what?

Otherwise, "we'll have to go with what we've got"

And they still want £10 million now.

If we weren't balls deep in a relegation battle I wouldn't mind as much. But we need players in and putting all our eggs in one basket 2 days before the window closes seems pretty baffling to me.
