If we weren't balls deep in a relegation battle I wouldn't mind as much. But we need players in and putting all our eggs in one basket 2 days before the window closes seems pretty baffling to me.

couldn't we swap Pratley for Tevez. You know whisper in Mancini's ear that that'd Really Truly piss the Tev off, he might be tempted, just to spite ol'poxface.

Who's to say we are? We could very well be discussing with a hundred players for all we know on here...chester white wrote: But we need players in and putting all our eggs in one basket 2 days before the window closes seems pretty baffling to me.

Perhaps people are just concerned that having been told of the need to "bring one or two in to help us out, on top of Ream" we're getting only a kid to take Kakuta's place on the bench?boltonboris wrote:It'll fall on deaf ears Bish.thebish wrote: I fail to see the wisdom in that. back then they wanted £10mill. surely it still makes sense to test their resolve when the shadow of the clock falls heavy across the desk???
These people would probably moan that we went in too early (had we got him 2 weeks ago) and day we should go in on deadline day with a low bid to try and get him cheaper.
I'm genuinely concerned we've not done more.
done what though - precisely? I asked you this a few days ago and you had no real answer....
Blow our wad on players we don't really want, just to beef the squad up, of course! D'urrrr

Instead we've spent two weeks chasing a player we can't afford, and another that wasn't interested in coming.
I don't think either way makes sense.
If we'd not punted a solid squad players like Taylor we'd not be as desperate.
If we'd not wasted a loan slot with Boyata I'm sure there'd be a decent premiership loan around for us too...

According to Marc Iles our initial bid for Zaha was only 3M down. No wonder we annoyed Palace and no wonder we've been laughed out of town...
Their valuation is a bit silly, but so is an opening bid of 3M.....

Quite possibly, and if that is the case, and we get somone half decent in by tomorrow then I'll be on here to hold my hands up. But it's looking less and less likely don't you agree? Like him or loathe him, Nixon seems to half at least half a finger on the button when it comes to Bolton transfers, and most of the names he's mentioned are now confirmed as not coming, be it having bids rejected or clubs not loaning out.David Lee's Hair wrote:Who's to say we are? I'm frustrated that we pimped Gary Cahill out for a period of about 12 months to try and get some money in to rebuild. We eventually suceeded and have £7million to reinvest, (not as much as we wanted but I don't blame the club for that, it was a difficult balance to strike). However having finally got that money, it seems like we all of a sudden don't know what to do with it!
So far in this window we have lost an England International centre back and Gael Kakuta (yes I know), and brought in an untried centre back from the US and an 18 year old Japanese lad on loan. It's not exactly filling me with confidence when we're in the middle of a huge relegation battle.

we'll see how much Palace wanted to sell Zaha by the end of today - won't we?
£3mill down with a generous sell on clause seems a reasonable offer to me- and if we have as reported gone to 7m then thats on the generous side.
if they dont want to sell, they dont want to sell.

Fair point but City (and Chelsea, and other clubs) are getting much more tight-arssed about their wage overheads now. It's almost like someone brought in a law.ohjimmyjimmy wrote:Assumes we'd pay it all, which we don't normally?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:...assumes he's on £40kpw, which he isn't.ohjimmyjimmy wrote:Wayne Bridge to Sunderland on loan? All is not lost? Marc Iles sez:
11.50pm General disappointment felt over break down of Zaha deal, but I understand the club are still working to get someone else in aside from Myaichi on loan from Arsenal.

We're clearly done. Not a chance of anyone (first team level) coming in other than Ream and the Japanese fellow.ratbert wrote:All is not lost? Marc Iles sez:

The elephant in the room is that Zaha does not want to come here and to be honest who could blame him given our current situation? He'll have no shortage of takers over the next 18 months (probably).lovethesmellofnapalm wrote:we'll see how much Palace wanted to sell Zaha by the end of today - won't we?

Miyaichi to Bolton. You will get a very talented youngster with unique story. This guy will not be a Kakuta signing, he's better player. you will end up loving him and he may very well save you from relegation. Petrov days are numbered

our current situation is that we a Prem club with a better than evens chance of remaining so .
as such he came here and performed well then he may well have his pick of "better" clubs
he has less chance of proving himself in the cloggers division.
if he has rejected us then feck him

What does it feel like missing out on Cahil and getting that German lump?Abs wrote:Miyaichi to Bolton. You will get a very talented youngster with unique story. I'm genuinely excited about Miyaichi; by all accounts he excelled in Holland, and was given a further UK work permit on the back of that exceptional talent. He needs the experience, we need the player, Arsenal need the minutes. It makes sense and has done since I mentioned it in a TW feature written at the beginning of the window...Abs wrote:Miyaichi to Bolton. You will get a very talented youngster with unique story. Can't he also play right-wing, Abs? By the way, it's nice to see you come here without being a WUM about Cahill. As many fans of other teams have discovered, if you come with abuse you'll get it back in spades - but the same applies to conversation.
EDIT: Ah, ok. You bit the fish. Rise above it.
