Get some decent goggles and a cap. £20 should set you up. Get some advice about the best fitting goggles for your head shape too. We're all different and it pays to have a watertight fit.
Good luck.
Some places insist on it. If you're swimming Front Crawl your head will be face down. The cap helps you streamline as you not only have hair but ears which can cause drag.

Hill training
9 x 40 seconds up a slope. Basically running up and down a hill nine times. Felt a bit like Sisyphus after a bit.

Bolton parkrun this morning. Nobody told me it had that bloody hill in it. Twice.
Roughly around the 23 minute mark. We'll see. I need to push myself next week though. Big time.

Good God, yes. My daughter ran in the schools x-country this morning at Trent Park and I saw all my running buddies either running hills or out on their long runs. Gutted I can't join them, but I must rest or I won't run at all. I guess with the snow it's not the WORST week to have off.Gooner Girl wrote:Very consistent at least!Verbal wrote:Bolton parkrun this morning. Nobody told me it had that bloody hill in it. Twice.

Re: The athletics/running thread
as I am trying to soft-pedal my limpy knee - did 30mins on my cross-trainer today... has the advantage that it is warm and I can watch TV while doing it - winner!

ARGH!
Dying to get back to Hackney now and run on a flat, gravel-laiden course. Underrated stuff.
