Nostalgia of old Bolton!

Post by stelios18 » Sun Feb 05, 2012 11:14 am

I was wondering how this team get destroyed in seconds... That kind of stars in sam allardyce times get lost in the dark: okocha, diouf, anelka, campo,stelios... Now we have other club that are not capable to be competitive and to win 3 matches in a row. What happened? We we not invest some milons to improve our situation. Why we do not have a good manager. People let's talk about nowaday situation and how to make it better...

Because the other teams have better players than us and we don't have millions to invest.

Scout Road is your best bet.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Serious question - why do we bother about relegation? If we go down we can still enjoy the "entertainment" on offer. If we stay up we know we will never be in a position to challenge for the title and will have all the same financial problems we have now. Remember when we were promoted we were told it was worth £X million to the club? When you take into account higher wages, transfer fees etc it nust have cost us a fortune (I'm sure someone knows how much we owed at the time of promotion and the current debt but, sorry I don't).

Our debt has roughly trebled since 2001. Which is far from untypical of the rest of the western world, from people to clubs to countries.

Thanks for the info. I see two possible trains of thought:
1) Our debt has trebled so we had better be prudent, get relegated, and lower our costs
2) Everybody's in debt so f*ck it we might as well be too

Any idea which one our benefactor favours? I know we spent money in January but, in reality, we made a nett gain thanks to Cahill's sale.

The owner of the company will want us to stay up. Obviously.

He's not pumped in a shit load of money to see the business be worth feck all.

If we stay up, we still have a good income (despite expenditure) which adds value to the company.

Never did understand valuations of companies. Are we saying that, irrespective of expenditure, a good income is all that's need to increase value? Mr Micawber will be turning in his grave.

Not entirely, but it's a good indicator to interested parties that we have a solid income. That way, they could chip away at the expenditure part and we could be profitable.

Or get a pan load of cash in parachute payments and sell the club to a Chinaman?

Really?? Considering half of Johnson Fold/Oldhams Estate/Tonge Moor was conceived up there, I thought nobody bothered with them!
