30 miles is obviously too short a distance for me else i would have run it loads!Verbal wrote:Shut it quagmire.

It is apparently a very good, picturesque race, there is usually a shorter race on the same day - 5/6 miles i think.
You should give one of them a go Verbal, as should GtE and the long lost Harry Genshaw... I'd come and cheer you on!

Single handed? Without any support vehicle/ physio/ nutritionist/ sports massage?
Fair play to him. What he is doing, in raising money for charity is admirable.
What he doesn't realise is there will be hundreds of people who think they just have to turn up, with little or no preparation and just knock out a session an ultra athlete would be proud of. That shit'll kill people.
Just run/ walk/ cycle a mile. Everyone can do that.

Crikey - I've just received notification of the 'field' for my 5K run. Only one person isn't connected to a running club. You've guessed it!

Re: The athletics/running thread
16km today. I should have done it Sunday but the great snow has kept me from doing it.
1:25:53. Ok, but not as good as the 16km split when I did the 19km last week. I'll take it though considering what I've eaten and drank over the weekend, added to that the icy conditions and, er, the fact that the last 2km were very uncomfortable for various reasons

Re: The athletics/running thread
Are you up here or down there, Verbal? I'm amazed you found a run-able 16km (very well done, btw). Did you go around a small route a lot of times?
