BOLTON v THE PIE MEN

Re: BOLTON v THE PIE MEN
It'll be a nail-biter, both teams nervous as hell. Wigan desperate to win, us desperate not to lose.
Probably ending in another 0-0 draw.
Probably ending in another 0-0 draw.

Nah - Nowhere there has he mentioned coming out on the right side of the narrow margins. 'Bingo' denied!BWFC_Insane wrote:http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/General/0,,1 ... 09,00.html

Re: BOLTON v THE PIE MEN
Not only are Wigan a top team they've got top support too...... it looks like they've sold 3/4 of the bottom tier!
Fans urged to buy early for Reebok Trip
Wigan Athletic will be roared on by their biggest away following of the season for the crunch Barclays Premier League clash with neighbours Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium this coming Saturday February 11th and fans wishing to see the game are being urged not to delay buying tickets.
Latics have already sold close to 2,000 tickets and as it remains unconfirmed at this stage whether or not it will be possible to purchase on the day of the game itself, supporters are being advised to buy their tickets in advance.

Didn't realise Blackburn play QPR this weekend.. Makes this game even more important. If we lose we could be 3 points from 17th or end up bottom 2 if Blackburn win.

Re: BOLTON v THE PIE MEN
Most games are a case of pick up whatever points you can but this one is a genuine must win. 3 points would put wigan a healthy distance below us and would help to nail their coffin. Anything else gives them hope.In a 4 horse relegation race I'd like to see us shoot one of the horses.
Probably the biggest game of the season so far in the circumstances made all the more significant by the manner of the defeat at Norwich at a point when the feel good factor was slowly coming back

Re: BOLTON v THE PIE MEN
N'gog has played 497 minutes since last scoring (that's more than eight hours of football). My disabled grandmother could do better than that. If we're going to shoot any horses, I'd start with useless nags.

He's played well though and has been a key component of making the system successful. The Axman wrote:N'gog has played 497 minutes since last scoring (that's more than eight hours of football). We had a none scoring Davies up front for years...

Re: BOLTON v THE PIE MEN
Feel free Jafka.
This is one of those games where I wish I could be at the Bok. Reckon there will be a good atmosphere and I can see us pulling through. I suspect 0 0 after 70 mins, a couple of attacking subs(not for moo/NRC) late impetus and a 2 1 win with Sordell opening his account.
Ah well.you can always dream....
re NGog, I still think he is our only genuine contender for the one up top role. No he wont score many but its about keeping possession in the opposition half.NGog will generally have his back to goal and the onus is on Eagles/Mavis Petrov et al to get forward and have a crack. If Sordell can do the same job and score goals then great but we havent seen enough of him to know yet.
The striker in a 451 doesnt generally end up scoring many but is crucial in making the system work through movement hold up play and being the first line of defence all of which Ngog has done better than our other current strikers.

Re: BOLTON v THE PIE MEN
Beg to differ. Many teams, in the Premiership and elsewhere, where 4-5-1 is employed have the lone striker as their highest scorer.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Feel free Jafka.

And how much did those strikers cost? The Axman wrote:Beg to differ. Many teams, in the Premiership and elsewhere, where 4-5-1 is employed have the lone striker as their highest scorer.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Feel free Jafka.

Who have we got who could possibly play that role?
Davies, can't for 90 minutes.
Klasnic, can't full stop.
Sordell? Possibly, but he's only just arrived and to ask him to single handedly lead the line in a premiership relegation fight? Big ask.
NGog has done well, he keeps his place for me.

Re: BOLTON v THE PIE MEN
I'm curious, which teams? My guess would be that to be a high scorng lone frontman you'd needto be part of a team that generally keeps possession very well and is capable of camping in the opposition half. The way Bolton play it the frontman is isolated more often than not and has to hold it until someone bombs forward usually to have a go or put in a futile cross for the one man in the box to attempt to get on the end of.The Axman wrote:Beg to differ.
