Re: BOLTON v THE PIE MEN
I hope you're right. I also left today with a some hope (I'm always hopeful) that the penny will drop with Coyle. You never know, maybe today was his last attempt to see if he was right afterall, but will finally admit that he's wrong and that 4 5 1 works afterall. Here's hoping.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:For the first time as a bolton fan today I found myself hoping KD would get sent off so Coyle would have less opportunity to play 442 and that we wouldnt go on to win after the equalizer allowing the deluded coyle to kid himself that his selection was sane afterall.
It's definitely not the end though. Miyaichi looks like he could do a better job than Petrov on the left,Tuncay showed that he could play in the Mavis role when Mavis has run himself out and we still have Sordell and Ream to come in.
Who knows, this defeat(and it cant be worse or more obvious than getting outclassed by what is really the weakest team in the league) may finally see the penny drop and Coyle adopting the approach that everyone can see works. His ineptitude has lost us what should have been 4 points in the last two games and has undone everything gained in January.
If he is stupid enough to continue to ignore the bleeding obvious I can see some pretty hostile scenes developing down the Bok.
Hope is what keeps us going.

If I could I'd have started a call of "Bring on the Moo" today, or maybe "4-5-1, 4-5-1". I'm sure it could have echoed long & loud.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:If he is stupid enough to continue to ignore the bleeding obvious I can see some pretty hostile scenes developing down the Bok.
I was giving it plenty of "fck off Coyle" throughout.
Regretably, the temptation to 'boo' (S)KD was high too, which is what I meant earlier that he's in danger of altering his legacy after many extraordinary years. I didn't, but if that performance had been put in by the likes of Pratley he'd have been cat-called as much as anyone ever.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

The penny won't drop.
It won't drop, because he won't let it.
That would be against his purist principles.
The one's that got Burnley promoted in 6th and would've taken them straight back down.
The one's that'll take us down for the same reason.
Getting a team promoted by playing 4-4-2, is easier on Bolton's budget, than keeping the same team in the Prem with significantly more intelligent players.

I think if you fit 4-5-1 to the tune of Wanderers, Wanderers, Wanderers, you might be onto a winner.bobo the clown wrote:If I could I'd have started a call of "Bring on the Moo" today, or maybe "4-5-1, 4-5-1". But then again Coyle would probably think everyone was singing Wanderers, Wanderers, Wanderers.

'the fans were fantastic, shouting out next weeks lottery numbers to me.. I really appreciate that support in the barclays premier league. Sadly the players let themselves down today, jussi just didn't give a vintage target man performance and Tuncay let in two sitters between the sticks. We have players waiting in the wings, so I am prepared to change it. We have to dust ourselves off and show desire and come out the right side of the margins.'Worthy4England wrote:I think if you fit 4-5-1 to the tune of Wanderers, Wanderers, Wanderers, you might be onto a winner.bobo the clown wrote:If I could I'd have started a call of "Bring on the Moo" today, or maybe "4-5-1, 4-5-1". After about 40 mins the old man turned to me and said 'I can't believe what i'm watching here'. I didn't know what to say! Hanging on for half time at home against wigan. We made them look like barcelona.
The thing is though I could see this result coming. As soon as I heard the team news my heart sank. As soon as I heard the wigan fans singing before k.o. cos it's their cup final.
All very depressing and with Chelsea and City away next up in the league, we'll be bottom when we next pitch up at the reebok for our next '6 pointer!'
We won't stay up and the worst thing is we don't deserve to.
Oh and btw when the 1st bang of the drum didn't put AAH off his kick, it might have been worth knocking that idea on the head. Embarrassing.

Limited, not a natural goalscorer, but not shite. He's the only player we have capable of being the one in a 451.Leaving Moo out today was mad but equally baffling was pairing two nongoalscoring strikers to spearhead our 442.officer_dibble wrote:ngog

Definite Red for me, studs showing jump from a couple of yards, mind they had one similar that should have been a red as well.officer_dibble wrote:wish kevin davies had been sent off :-/

Ref didn't have a good game for me, mind he's had a few bad ones this season.
But that isn't an excuse as we were just pathetic and I can't see any top team outside Scotland ever taking Coyle as a manager now.
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED
Re: BOLTON v THE PIE MEN
Even the day after I am still bemused and angry at Coyles decision to play Davo ahead of Muamba and change the formation that had got us victories or good perfomances against Everton, Scum, Liverpool & Arsenal. If we had changed to 4 4 2 at some point and it had massively changed a game in our favour then you could perhaps understand Coyle changing it but I am struggling to remember that happening.
Wigan for all their failings try to retain possession and play football so we were always going to need 3 in central midfield and always going to need Muambas ball winning skills.
To be fair to Davo he did come back and try to support the midfield at times but it is hardly his skill set and he isn't in Muambas league as a ball winning midfield player.
Then to compound things after 20 mins everyone could see 4-4-2 wasn't working (well perhaps everyone but Coyle and his coaching team) and we still don't change it.
The number of times in front of Coyle that Eagles lost Beausejour who he was supposed to be marking was staggering. With 3 in central midfield there is a chance one can help Steinner out by covering for Eagles but NRC and Mark Davies were overrun as it was.
To test Al-Habsi so few times was desperately poor and for Coyle to even suggest we deserved a point is frankly self delusion of the highest order.
Unfortunately Davo is finished as a top flight centre forward, we haven't replaced the goals from Elmander (first half of season) and Sturridge (2nd half of season) that enabled us to be upper mid table most of last season. In midfield Mark Davies looks capable of being a good Prem player in the advanced midfield role, in central midfield in a 2 he just gets lost.
Am telling my lads to enjoy the rest of the season as it may well be the last Premiership football we see at the Reebok for a while

Re: BOLTON v THE PIE MEN
I'm at a loss to understand why there seemingly are no 'Wash-ups' where they all sit around a table and discuss the match, tactics, formation. So someone or more than one say, "Hang on, Boss. We've been trying this and it's not working, but 4-5-1 is. Let's try that." So Coyle is either ignoring them or he has a plan to take us down. There can be no other explanation. He's had more than a season (and a lot of last season) to see his plan is not working in the least and that he has to make changes but he is blind to everything. Maybe he pinned his hopes on Lee and Holden. It's a bit of a bite in the arse when your best player match after match is the goalie. It's just so difficult to see where there are any points coming from. At one time our ups and downs were exciting at least, now it's like an old horse waiting and hoping for a quick bullet. I wonder how Eddies millions are going to fare in the Championship. Hope he gets good tax relief..

Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

I'm really starting to dislike him and the fact that he arrogantly & stubbonly thinks that he knows best, when its obvious to most that he doesn't have a bloody clue - Coyle is a dinosaur manager stuck in the 4-4-2 (I need 2 wingers routed to the touchline) past. He's clearly out of his depth tactically in the premier league and somehow gets away with it by patronising the fans week in week out, with his 'the fans were great', 'we've had great support', 'we had great backing' bla bla fecking bla rubbish that he spouts.
Its about time the fans saw through him and realised how limited he really is as a manager / coach. I'm still really pissed off that he arrogantly restored K Davies & 4-4-2 knowing that it would annoy most of the fans, who had finally started to get some hope that we would somehow avoid relegation by playing the recently successful 4-5-1 system without K Davies. Its almost as if he had been told about the Muamba stats doing the rounds and he thought that he'd show us who's boss, even if it mean't another nail in the coffin. He was like a rabbit caught in the headlights yesterday clueless to prevent defeat and totally out thought by Martinez, I was told last night that apparently in the 1st half for a period the possession stats where 84% Wigan - 16% Bolton....that's with a manager (Coyle) who spouts that he likes to play so called football.

I had that feeling also, similar to when I heard the team selection at Wembley in the Semi Final. I dont think the drum works on any Keepers and they are begining to get on my tits now !John Doe wrote:After about 40 mins the old man turned to me and said 'I can't believe what i'm watching here'. At the begining of the season I think all will agree we had a tough start to bottom after 7 was no suprise, my thoughts after that were, judge him after the next 7 games, where we were still bottom, this sould of been the catalyst for the board to look a hard and serious about a replacement, yet we've kept on plugging away with Coyle. We get the odd glimmer when we resort to 4-5-1 and performances to a man against the likes of Liverpool & Aresenal , where everyone works their socks off to close down etc ... makes you think, yes, the pennys dropped. But then again like some clown who doesnt learn from sticking their hand in the fire hes goes and makes mess again
I thought our run in would possibly help us avaoid the drop, but after yestrdays performance I suspect Coyle will go all Gung Ho to play the opossition off the pitch with his all conquering 4-4-2 formation, in the search of 3 vital points. The last 2 games have seen 4 points dropped without a doubt and I suspect that yesterdays result will see us relegated (I Hope I'm wrong)
Coyle needs to get back to basics, ie shore the defence up, pack the midfield and grind resul;ts out, if this doesnt happen, we're all doomed
