some points for a reality check
1. we beat Wigan 3-1 playing 4-4-2.
2. If Muamba breached club discipline he shouldn't play. if he didn't then its clear OC doesnt rate him above RC or Davies. I do but many on here don't either. Given Coyle was always going to go 4-4-2 and look to pressure high up the pitch and Sordell was injured it was Davies or Klasnic or Tuncay for the 2nd striker. He went for the wrong one.
3. some on here now calling for Coyle's head had us finishing mid table after our mini run against the Scousers and Arsenal. Utter shite. This season was always going to be a roller coaster and if we survive it will be by the skin of our arses. why? see point 4
4. WE ARE A TEAM IN TRANSITION. It is not inconceivable that we start games for the remainder of the season without any of those fckers who started that game against Stoke (leave Knight and Steinsonn -oh and Muamba- out and its a done deal). Myself and most on here who went to that game were calling for exactly that. If anything OC has been over patient with the likes of Davies K and Knight but his hands have been tied with injuries.
5. The transfer window looks a good one. Last orders has gone for SKD,Steinsonn and Knight (i'd keep Muamba but i'm biased). Its Coyle's team now - judge it and him this time next season when either, i predict, we will be comfortably mid BPL table or running away with the Championship
If we survive we will be a better side for it.Sack the manager and we may well implode.

Reid was very good at Sunderland
and what he put in place to keep Leeds up was hardly sustainable was it?

Eh? He came in at Leeds worked with the same players who'd been there and kept em up.lovethesmellofnapalm wrote:Reid was very good at Sunderland and what he put in place to keep Leeds up was hardly sustainable was it?
That was all he had to do then and all he'd have to do here, then it'd be tara and thanks Reidy. As a long term option, no, but short term for a bit of realism?

Comparing us to the Leeds situation is a bit silly. They were in a mess as a club but still had some world class players like Viduka, Kewell and Smith when they were performing at their peak.
Reid is the ultimate managerial dinosaur - he aint the guy if you want some common sense tactical thinking. You'd get 4-4-2 with a lot of swearing thrown in, the same chance of going down, without any hope of good things in the future. The decline would truly be in full swing.

We're back to the same position when Megson left, only worse in terms of points.
Infighting at the Reebok amongst the fans. A horrible poisonous atomosphere. A manager making bizarre decisions. Arguing with his players (he had some sort of disagreement with NRC on Saturday, lots of arm waving). Very unhappy fans showing their displeasure at the game.
There aren't many reasons to keep Coyle, that I can think of.

How about Neil Warnock or Mick McCarthy?
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

if Reid got less ppg than Coyle - then we would lose points. in any relegation scrap - I reckon that's a bad thing.
It is impossible to know whether Reid would get more or fewer points than coyle in the run-in - we can't run the end of season twice in a controlled experiment...
but - it is possible that he would get less - thus making it even less likely that we might survive.
so - it is ENTIRELY possible that we could lose by swapping for Reid (even not taking into account how much it would cost us to make that change at this point)
and so it is entirely possible that we could be worse off under Reid.

To be honest, anyone who could pick the following team on a regular basis could keep us up...BWFC_Insane wrote:He might be a dinosaur, but he knows how you need to fight, scrap and battle to stay up!bristol_Wanderer3 wrote:Comparing us to the Leeds situation is a bit silly. Bogdan, Steinsson, Knight, Wheater, Rickets, Eagles, NRC, Muamba, Mavies, Petrov, Ngog. By all means do a like for like with Jussi, Mears, Ream, Alsonso, even SKD/Sordell for Ngog, even Tuncay for Mavies. Just play 4-5-1 with that kind of line up.
You, I, or Kermit the frog could be the manager if he would pick that team, it wouldn't matter we would have a good chance of staying up....I'm just completely amazed that OC can't see this, espeically as he has already done it.

1 totally irrelevent, wigan gifted us the points in the first game. Much like stoke and Qpr did in our other marvellous 442 wins. The rest of the time without gifts from the opposition we dont look like creating anything, conceed chase the game and get mullered.lovethesmellofnapalm wrote:this is all such bollocks.

2 We dont know about moo.Remind when has any 442 with our currently fit players succeeded in pressuring opponents up the pitch? How do you pressure teams without the ball?
3 Correctly managed I still believe we can finish comfortably safe. There's a big clump of mediocrity just above the bottm 4 which strretches up to 8th and we are playing most of them at home.
4 Yes its a transitional period but is it best to stay up or be trying to get back up?
5 Inspite of Coyle acting like a clown I still want him to manage the club and show some common sense. If he went now then I'm pretty sure Warnock would be our next manager. That wouldnt bother me he's a decent manager even if he's marmite to many but Coyle is the man managing the transition and it only wil take a little common sense to give us a decent chance to stay up.
Oh and why would we implode without coyle,it's a football club not the bleeding death star. There's more danger of implosion if he continues to use stupid tactics and blame the players. If he does that it will be a very fractious relegation and we will have a new manager in the summer.

Re: JUST FCUK OFF
What utter utter drival! Even worse than some of the defence of Megson, Coyle is C R A P at management at this level and its about time some of you woke up to this fact, Burnley were sinking like a feckin' stone under Coyle before he left or do you suffer from amnesia?lovethesmellofnapalm wrote:this is all such bollocks.
