I'm amazed that it sensed you had even the slightest intention of going for a run... that's a pretty sensitive sensor it must have to pick up such a faint (some might say - non-existant) signal!Gooner Girl wrote:Yes, it specificly texted me to say 'Helen its far too cold to run - stay in bed' and who am i to ignore the met office?!thebish wrote:ahh! good point - well made! just as well u stayed tucked up then!Gooner Girl wrote:dunno, is run by the met office so they probably know their stuff.

i know, just so annoying though. Since I did that 22:51 i've been improving loads but not seeing it on the parkruns for various reasons. All ii ask for is a warm day and a flat track. is that too much to ask?Gooner Girl wrote:So close.Verbal wrote:23:13

I should probably get some thermals tbh. Need em. And some actual running shoes.

Did the Winter Hill fell race this morning. Christ it was treacherous. The few paths and trails on the course were sheet ice, and the tussocks were frozen so hard it was like running on bricks. Fell about 10 times and got lost in the fog once costing me a lot of time. When I left there were still 10 runners lost out on the moors somewhere

Re: The athletics/running thread
Ok - knocked a couple more out since Thursday.
On Saturday it was very cold and icy but ran for 28 mins at a steady 6min/km pace. (Ran the jumbles Bruce but it was a last minute decision so didn't pm)
Today - I was tired when I started and I really struggled for some reason. When I got back I realised my pace was all over the place, slow at first and then 5.35 min/km in the middle two or so Km. Finished the run but was very tired.
I have been running every other day and wonder if, as a relative novice, whether I should take a longer break at times?

I would give yourself an extra day off at the weekend. 3 times a week is more then enough for a novice, you could always go for a swim or something instead. If you push yourself too much too soon you'll get injured.

Re: The athletics/running thread
With apologies to GH and Bruce I won't be contacting you for a run this week. I have sufferd a recurrence of my Piriformis problem and can't run. Tried 4 miles today round Horwich and just can't walk now.

Aw no! That sucks. So sorry to hear that GtE. I guess you're gonna have to rest it quite a bit longer. Hope it doesn't mess up your training too much.Gary the Enfield wrote:With apologies to GH and Bruce I won't be contacting you for a run this week. Take it easy and get back to your best bud. We can do that run another time

Re: The athletics/running thread
get well soon gte. Does that mean you will be around for the Millwall game now?
10km tonight went fine. Decentish pace. Absolutely dreading the 1.5km intervals tomorrow though. My flatmate/training partner is having the week off due to a niggly knee so i'm going to have to push myself harder than I would normally.
