Same thought went through my head.

Holden, Davis, Gardner (ok we all know...), Alonso and now Mears.

Too regular for this to be completely random.

I suggest our physio's and fitness staff may not be as good as they once were.....

For Alonso, Holden and Mears ALL to return and quickly be back out with injuries linked to their initial operation, it does seem perfectly reasonable to ask questions

Gardner was a sentimental gamble I had no problem taking

Davis has been one long tale of woe

The three I started with...seriously, I'm not saying they are clueless fcukwits, I'm just asking the question

I dont remember us ever having this many injuries. The re-injuries are even more worrying. As for Sean Davis - signed nearly 3 years ago - did he even have a medical?

Let's write CYL off now then.

Hope he's good in his one game back before we lose him again.

How can Holden's injury be the fault of the team doctor/physio? It wasn't/isn't the same injury and Holden had told Coyle he was ready for action hence him playing in the Villa game.

It was only after the game they found a problem with his knee, one that he would to have eventually had to have an operation for. What we going to blame Coyle for next Todd getting sacked in '00? HWSNBN naming a reserve side for the Waffa cup? Paul Comstive's miss against Tranmere?

Well I wouldn't write his point of view of here, remember Big Sam always used to bang on about "injury prevention". We seemed to have a fully fit squad in those days, it can't be all a coincidence.

And does anyone know if we've got rid of Big Sam's scientific preparation for matches? Seems an awful waste if we have. Jeez I miss the days when we were a professional outfit!

Aye you're right, we did have some baduns but wasn't on the whole our injury record one the best in the league at the time? I remember a post about us being constantly at the bottom of that physio room table. It could all be coincidence. But I don't think our Owen has heard of "injury prevention"!

I seem to remember one of Megson's first comments when arriving at Bolton was that he was surprised at how many soft tissue injuries there were within the squad.

I think we're in danger of a Golden Age mentality with regards to the Allardyce era. Despite the sports science, we had knocks and niggles like everyone else.

Didn't he still have pins in his leg when he played? I thought I read that somewhere but I could have made it up. That would be extremely forgetful on someone's part, if true.

He may have had pins but I'm not sure but it wasn't down to the pins it was damage and a build up of fluid to the knee. It wasn't the original injury resurfacing.

So, during his recovery from the original injury he developed an entirely new one, which the medical staff had failed to notice as he made his way back to fitness and was allowed to resume his career.

This new injury then requiring entirely new surgical treatment after only one match .... & there's NO link and the medic's can't be expected to have spotted it ??

Really ?!?!

I still have pins, screws a plate and a rod in my shoulder/arm. They don't always remove them, sometimes they have to remain for a myriad of reasons. It seems the know-nowts are scrambling out the woodwork to pin* this one on Coyle.

I'm not trying to "pin it on Coyle" just to wonder whether the club are getting the best medical attention.

Shit happens, as does bad luck, but this amount MAY just be that we are using medics of less than Triple A standard.

It may not, but I wouldn't dismiss it.

I don't think, for once, that is in Coyle's court.
