Re: The athletics/running thread
Managed 6 miles last night.
The last 2 miles were painful but I am relatively pain free this morning. Whisper it quietly but the marathon may not have to be cancelled.

Hmmm, I'm advised that it might be a bit much. Plus £37?Gary the Enfield wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:So - a natural progression? A new goal? Or just me getting carried away?

Check out Runners World. There are hundreds of races up and down the country every weekend and most will be £10 to £15 for non-affiliated runners. Manchester is popular and so commands a fee. Most central London races cost more thatn the Marathon. The Great North Run costs more than the marathon.Bruce Rioja wrote:Hmmm, I'm advised that it might be a bit much. Go for a local race. You might want to try a 5 miler before the full 10k (6.4 miles). As I say there's loads of choice. It doesn't have to be in front of camera's you Harry Redknapp wannabe media whore!

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

You guess correctly. What a pointless thing to do. Having said that there should have been sufficient marshalls along the course with mile markers and drinks stations. I've never run a half marathon without marshalls at startegic points.

Quality. I like how the this encourages people to get off their arse and exercise while at the same time actively promoting heart disease by having a pie shop as a sponsor.

Genuinely brilliant. Apart from the bit about it being in France I actually think that could be the perfect workout.Gary the Enfield wrote:CrazyHorse wrote:"The Village Bakery Half Marathon"Gary the Enfield wrote:bobo the clown wrote:I guess you guys won't see the funnier side of this then ...

No, I meant it's a bit much in terms of where I'm up to (though £37 strikes me as quite a lot)Gary the Enfield wrote:Check out Runners World. Which is why I suggested a 5 miler instead. And yes, £37 is quite a lot considering you're the one putting the effort in.
