are you sure you're not pregnant LK??Gooner Girl wrote:When i was pregnant with the twins i woke up a few times with agonising leg cramps - partly caused apparently by a lack of magnesium and calcium in the diet (babies were taking it all) Might be worth taking a supplement and seeing if that helps?Lord Kangana wrote:Its not running, and its in my left thigh muscle. I've always had it from all forms of exercise all down my left leg, I think its to do with a bad injury I had on my ankle years ago. When ski-ing I have to ratchet my boots onto the agonising full clamped on settings to stop it in my left calf. Which makes it interesting when I realease them.
Interesting that its been noted elsewhere that I may be dehydrated though. I don't think its salts, which I've been advised on before as my diet is, understandably, full of it.

I'll check tomorrow.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

I'm more worried that they are multi-use.

It's not lack of isotonic drinks. Can you spell 'con'?
Salt and Magnesium are the two I've been recommended before. If it isn't salt then it's popeye food and pistachios!

Re: The athletics/running thread
haven't run for 4 weeks due to a limpy knee..
however - 4 weeks of not running - and the last two weeks without any exercise at all have made no real difference and I still have a limpy knee - so I thought, bugger it, it can't be the running! When running it isn't a sharp pain - but a soft ache - so not at all alarming...
anyway - first time out for 4 weeks and it felt like I hadn't ever run in my life..
still was fairly pleased to have finished it at what felt like asthmatic octagenarian pace - but actually turned out to be 5k in 29mins - which is a minute over my last outing... so - fairly happy to have only lost a minute in 4 weeks...
have ice pack on knee now - and might cut the running down from 3 times a week to two - and do other stuff in between...
running music choices - pumping podcaster phat tunes for the running... elgar's cello concerto in E minor for my warm-down walk!

You look like you are, and quite possibly with twins, tooLord Kangana wrote:I'll check tomorrow.

More tonic in your gin, laddy. The quinine will sort you out.

Well done Hun but take it easy, needing an ice pack on your knee after running doesn't sound good to me...thebish wrote:haven't run for 4 weeks due to a limpy knee..

on a different track - maybe it's not nutrients/dehydration (though dehydration is often reckoned to be a cause)Lord Kangana wrote:Its not running, and its in my left thigh muscle. I'd guess your work has you on your feet for long hours. Maybe it's a posture-related condition? (perhaps caused by your old injury?)
if so - then I'm no expert in sorting it out - but the places to explore might be..
some kind of specially designed morning/evening stretching exercise regime
some kind of orthotic shoe inserts
balance/posture training - yoga? pilates?

Well done
First for me tonight. Got round one lap of my circuit (2.5Km) and just thought - I couldn't be bothered with this tonight.
Is that acceptable from time to time?

Trying again tomorrow.

Bruce, a night off won't do you any harm. I, however, am in the middle of a two week hiatus from running in a bid to get this Piriformis issue under control. It's murder not being able to run. I feel as if all my efforts from the last few months have gone for a Burton. However if I don't rest I've got NO chance of making the Marathon so here's hoping.
In the meantime I've joined a gym to improve my core fitness and am swimming to maintain my stamina.
BTW anyone watch Horizon last night? Interesting wasn't it?
Re: The athletics/running thread
heard a radio discussion by way of a preview - sounded interesting - but then forgot about it!! was it summat about intensive exercise for 3mins a year or summat?Gary the Enfield wrote:Gooner Girl wrote:with your dodgy knees and ice packs?
