Formation Thoughts

Post by Phoenix89 » Thu Mar 01, 2012 1:10 am

Ive read peoples thoughts on here about what our best formation is, and most people say 451 but
in my opinion we dont look like scoring at all when playing 451. Ok we look a bit more solid at the back but only goals will keep us up.
The reason why 442 wasnt working this season was because SKD was in the 2, its almost like playing with 10 men when he plays.
I think sordell and ngog could work really well together, their fast and skillfull and because they are both young they would track
back and help out the defence more than SKD. Colyles paid around 3-4million each for them both so he must see us as playing
442 in the future. This would be my 11:
BOGDAN
RICKETTS.....WHEATER.......REAM........ALONSO(when fit)

M.DAVIES........REO-COKER.........MUAMBA........RYO

NGOG..........SORDELL

Hopefully CYL and holden come back soon and they give us a boost, we have really missed them.
what would your formation/team be?

the lineup you listed looks pretty decent i must admit

if i were to look forward thinking about returns of CYL and HOLDEN id probably set us up something like this
(when fit ect.)

Bogdan
Steinsson ricketts knight alonzo
Muamba NRC
CYL HOLDEN Miyachi
Ngog

its funny when you actually look at this squad im sure you think as i do .. europa league challengers?

but when you look at this squad....

Jussi
boyata wheater knight robbo
mdavies prattley
eagles petrov
Klasnic davies

you get that sinking feeling no doubt hehe

we should have let slumberland take davies hes not gonna start more than 2 matches this season again for me and next season he cant exactly improve eh..

would like to add sordell needs a start and ngog could play deeper as he has skill on the ball so

My team vs city

GK:jussi (would actually give him lifeline to firsteam again akin to how we did with bogdan when we expected to get trounced, perhaps he may make a decent performance for first time in 2/3 years
Defence
RB:Steinsson Cb: Wheatus Cb: Knight Lb:Ricketts
Cdm's
Rdm:Nrc Cdm:Muamba LDMReam(as hes better on the ball than our otther Defenders he could play cdm for a game were were pinned back for 89 mins)

CFNgog
ST : SKD ST: Sordell

pace and ummm davies qualities upfront could give us a way in backs against the wall x fingers hope ngog skd or sordell pulls out a screamer:P

I have no problem with 4-4-2 whatsoever.

4-5-1 can be even more of a nightmare.

But you have to base your formation on something more than an Idelogoy/Philsosphy - you have to have the personnel to play effectively, to the formation you pick. 4-4-2 with NRC as the only bloke who can tackle blatently doesn't work, as the other 3 muppets aren't Iniesta, Xavi and Messi and don't keep the ball off the nasty opposition for 65% of the time.

I think you have to be smart. 'Arry reckons Spurs lost to Arsenal because they were outnumbered in midfield after the game settled down.

When a 4 man midfield plays a 5 man midfield, the 5 men normally win unless they're lower quality in which case they may be setting up for a draw, esp if away from home.

Can I advocate being smart?
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

most bpl teams use
451 with 2 cdm's at the moment switching to 433 going forward its so common as its a great way of flooding midfeilds against tippy tappy styles when they arent barcelona :P

we however play it more like a 631

and 2 44 going forward :p

a bit of confidence is what we need this season id say i decent result vs city could fill us with confidence being they are heralded as the team to beat this year

win lose or draw

I suspect that if we fielded a 7-man midfield they'd find themselves outnumbered by Citeh's midfield!
