No evidence so far it will match The Wire or The Sopranos, but few things do...
Go on, name one. Please.
Breaking Bad is good. Six Feet Under, next. Not hopeful of a breaking entry into the top two though.

Can't... They are fantastic in ambition and achievement... And Boardwalk Empire isn't so far edging anything... But may, it has classy production values and promising characters... Have you watched any of it, Pru?Prufrock wrote:William the White wrote:Started on Boardwalk Empire - watched the first two episodes. Very promising.

Nope. It has certainly registered; but, Scorsese budgets, and its 'newness' means my budget certainly doesn't stretch that far at the moment. Heard good things. Will take some to match The Wire or Sopranos though.
I keep meaning to get the lady into The Wire, but we're moving in together in the summer, so I'm saving her education for then, when I get Omar, Jimmy, Stringer and friends all over again

Just watched it properly. Hadn't realised that it was a true story until William mentioned it.William the White wrote:Good advice, Harry.Harry Genshaw wrote:Stick with it Bruce. The acting can be a bit iffy in places but by the end I was impressed and found it really moving.Bruce Rioja wrote:Am trying to watch Rabbit Proof Fence, which is a real erstwhile story but the film isn't exactly holding my attention. I'll have a third go tomorrow!
And, Bruce, have a hankie ready by the end...
I'm just remembering now... Saw it at the cinema... might get from Lovefilm...
Very moving.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Sticking with Homeland for now, last nights episode seemed to pick up the pace just a tad over previous episodes and Claire Danes in strangley hot

Six Feet Under matches and surpasses for my money.William the White wrote:Can't... They are fantastic in ambition and achievement... And Boardwalk Empire isn't so far edging anything... But then I also think for entertainment value you can't beat a bit of The Shield. Realism be damned!

Re: What are you watching tonight?
cant see the Claire Danes attraction at all!?
The program however, is immense. i watched them all before it came to C4. and it really boils along nicely to a stonking edge of your seat finale. another "bed? nah lets just watch one more episode" show for me...
Anybody seen 'Sons of Anarchy'? the premise of a bunch of nasty thieving murdering pillaging hells angels with big Ron Perlman as the burly bossman was really exciting. but it wasnt quite right, summat was bugging me about it, then it twigged - our protagonist hero is the nice person from Green Street!! him who is the worst actor in the worst film ever with dodgy accent!! he's beefed up a fair bit and gotten older, but he still makes me want to pull my own teeth out when hes on screen. cant bring myself to watch any more. shame.
