Tomorrow, Lerpool 02, to see the Commitments show. Many of the performers being those from Alan Parker's 1991 film.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Really nice day today...
Two films at the VIVA Festival. In the afternoon, Hermano (brother) a Venezuelan film, set in slum Caracas as two brothers star in the slum's football team (playing competitions against other slum areas in Caracas), one also involved in gangs, drugs, violence etc, the other a good boy... Then they are offered a trial by Caracas FC (their stadium looks amazing and the fans absolutely crazed)... Their mother is shot (accidentally) by the goalie of their side, her funeral is on the day of the trial... Very good, ultra-realist film...
In total contrast, in the evening, we saw a Spanish film, Balada Triste de Trompeta (The trumpet's sad song - but given the English title of The Last Circus). This is a totally mad, gory, violent, hilarious, gripping, comic and utterly bizarre story of two clowns in love with the same woman, who can't decide between them, and they both go crazy, hunting each other down, mad violence, gorily depicted, wonderful cinematography. I'd watch it again.
In between, with 2 hours plus to spare, we decided to go to El Rincon for tapas (to continue the spanish theme). Early evening on Friday? Not a chance. A 90 minute wait for a table. We took a stroll down Deansgate to this place: http://www.evuna.com/Bar_Restaurant.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - also pretty booked but they found a table for two provided we were out by 7.30, which suited us perfectly.
It was just excellent. despite being after the 6.00 pm deadline they let us choose from the lunch time menu of three tapas for £9.99 and a glass of wine at £3.50. So, we had, fish skewer, chicken skewer, calamare, tortilla espanola, green salad, mushroom in garlic... Was really good... This place is a wine merchants also - exclusively spanish. The house white was a La Mancha Verdejo that was so good I had two, the driver (
) one and we bought a bottle for home... Recommend... not the same choice as El Rincon, but high quality.
At home now... with a red from La Mancha... but two more movies tomorrow (keep my mind off Spurs) and a final one on Sunday...
