heart didn't beat for 78 minutes.
had 15 defibrilator shocks. 2 on pitch. 1 in tunnel. 12 in ambulance.
none worked.

It's not pointless if it makes the prayer-sayer feel better, I agree.elfil76 wrote:Never pointless to say a little prayer or a good word or two to the people around you. Friends or strangers
Doesn't do any good for Fabrice though.

It really is incredible. I'd like to know what the prognosis tends to be in a situation like this, but it seems borderline miraculous that a couple of days later he's able to have conversations, recognise people and generally just be aware of what's going on.Bruce Rioja wrote:JesusJames B wrote:heart didn't beat for 78 minutes.

Still amazed that he might come out of this the same person, he and his family are so so lucky if he does.

I think the prognosis would be incredibly bad indeed from my limited knowledge of the subject.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:It really is incredible. I used to know a paramedic and I'm sure he told me once that if you don't get the heart beating within a few minutes they've pretty much had it, usually. When I heard they were still trying to ressucitate him down the tunnel and in the ambulance..............

Re: Fabrice Muamba
Heart specialist quoted in the Observer (I think) said about 25% chance of survival. Still early days, but the first 24 hours the most dangerous, and, obviously, we are well past that. Come on, Fab, come on!mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:It really is incredible.
