Yes. Lesson learnt - will not lend out camera again. Now I too will have to download from memory card and not from camera.Montreal Wanderer wrote:I suspect you should be angry about yourself as well. It must be an interesting camera if the files on the memory card are a higher resolution than the downloaded ones. It is also possible just to lend the memory card - hang on to your camera in future. Oh well, charity begins at home. The Axman wrote:One Specific Charity Worker.
(After a request, I took some pictures of some charity do at my wife's school about a month ago. Downloaded photos onto a memory stick and gave them to the woman who'd requested them [never got the stick back either]. A couple of weeks later she asked to borrow the camera to download the piccys I'd taken. After a long-winded conversation in which I pointed out I'd given her the photos, she claimed she wanted to blow some up and needed a better resolution of picture than I'd provided. I gave her the benefit of the doubt because I'm not advanced technically with 'modern' technology, and lent her the camera overnight.
Well, fcuk me, if I don't go to download my own pictures a couple of night's back and discover I can't. Why not? Because some tw*t has managed to destroy the mini-USB port in the camera. By a process of deduction (which included huge argument with wife - "haven't touched it", "must have", " 'ckin 'aven't") I worked out it was demolished by said charity woman.
Saw her this morning, and after asking about her enlarged pictures, confronted her about it. She finally admitted she'd not managed to download anything and that she might have "slightly damaged the hole-thingy into which you shove the flat metally-thingy" as her 'metally-thingy' was all bent and didn't work anymore. When asked directly what she was going to do regarding my camera she just shrugged and then she had the cheek to suggest that it was my camera that had damaged her cable!
Fuming. Steam out of ears time. )

therefore - a small ask!

Shock. Horror. You're not saying (are you?) that it's a government strategy to raise taxes by driving a panic. Surely not....

Panic buying does not equate to additional usage though, does it? So how might the government be strategically raising taxes? The Axman wrote:Shock. Horror. You're not saying (are you?) that it's a government strategy to raise taxes by driving a panic. Surely not....

if you keep your car permanently topped up (as per government advice) - then it is heavier - and uses more fuel = more usage..Bruce Rioja wrote:Panic buying does not equate to additional usage though, does it? The government aren't being calculated here, they're just a bit thick.
The number of climb downs and counter stories they've had to put out in the past few days, about a number of topics, I've never know anything like it.
Best bit is where Cameron told a very elaborate story about the last time he had a pasty, quite recently in the past few months, even down to the place he bought it from and the size of said pasty. Except it turned out he was lying as the shop in question shut down nearly 10 years ago!

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Everyone knows what a dint 38m spent in a couple of days rather than over a fortnight will make to the national debt. Have a good look at yersel Bruice...Bruce Rioja wrote:Panic buying does not equate to additional usage though, does it?
