Well, not Pratley... I'd give Tuncay a goBruno3 wrote:Wouldn't have a clue who to use instead of Pratley. Maybe it'll be a case of pulling a name out of a hat at random. Who've we got that's big, strong, quick, can pass a ball and do it all superbly for 90 minutes?

Re: Away at Wolves
Massive game. In case you didn't know.
Mustn't lose it - that's the aim for me. Would be great to get 3 points, of course, but this is an away game in the Premiership. They're never easy. And we have that game in hand at Villa too - a point at Molineux and Villa Park and I'd be delighted.
Midfield is obviously the conundrum, but we have been found out when we play 442 so we need to get numbers in the middle. Reo-Coker is going to have to be very disciplined and sit in front of the defence throughout the game. He has made some good late bursts this season (Liverpool springs to mind), but for this game he's our only combative midfielder left. He has to play that role, and play it well.
As for the other two in the middle, I guess Mark Davies goes without saying and then I think you're looking at either Eagles or Tuncay (presuming Sean Davis is still crocked). I'd look at having Tuncay in there, just ahead of Reo-Coker and Mavies who can err on the side of caution and sit back a bit.
Ryo on one side and Petrov on t'other, meaning when we push forward, Tuncay can be the one to make the late runs. He will be desperate to start and will really put a shift in, I'm sure. Doesn't look like Coyle really fancies him though.
So, for me it's:
Boggers
Steinsson Wheater Ream Ricketts
NRC Mavies
Ryo Tuncay Petrov
Ngog
COYW!

I'd go with that team selection, if ever we needed to see what Tuncay was made of it's nowOwen'sEleven wrote:Massive game. In case you didn't know.

However I fear we'll St. Owen continue the Ream experiment instead.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I fear Bobo may be right but I hope not. Ream is completely lost in midfield and his pace and reading will be missed at the back.If we must then please Boyata not knight. I do think Tuncay could do great against wolves in the hole but Coyle appears not to like him.Shame.
Not sure how crucial Mavis is moving forward at present. He's been pretty inocuous of late but I guess being one of our few remaining central mids must play regardless

Re: Away at Wolves
the annoying thing about him playing ream there is it breaks up a comfortable looking centre back partnership....and means zat fecking knight will play
I'd go
--------------Bogdinhio----------------
Steiner---Wheats----Ream-----Ricketts
--------Riley----------Reo Cokes------
------------Mark Davies--------------
Ryo------------------------Petrov
----------Ngrog-------------------------

Re: Away at Wolves
Could Tuncay play in central mid behind mark davies? I wouldnt dare put ricketts or ream in there, Knight is a player nobody wants to see on the pitch for a game that crucial and alonso was dire against tottenham, cant risk a repeat performance.

Re: Away at Wolves
From what I know of wolves fullback is pretty vital. Kightly on the right and Jarvis on the left are pretty useful. Keep them quiet and there isnt much else of note. So yes a good case for Ricketts staying left and hopefully Steinsson will have got his boots on the right feet. Wolves strike pairing is usually one lump and one quick un so we should keep Wheets and Ream there for sure.Jez wrote:Could Tuncay play in central mid behind mark davies? Bodgan
Steinsson, Wheater, Ream, Ricketts
Ryo, M. Davies, Reo-Coker, Vela, Petrov
Ngog
No square pegs in round holes please. The lad is eager to get on and do well, give him a chance.
Even in the worst case senario he gives us more defensively than Eagles.

They've been playing Doyle on the right flank, with Fletcher up top on his own.Ianmooreslovechild wrote: From what I know of wolves fullback is pretty vital. Doyle looks lost out there (though I don't particularly rate him) but with our featherweight defenders who don't like a tussle, he MAY be tempted to stick two tough 'uns (Doyle and Fletcher) up front.

Re: Away at Wolves
Where did Tuncay play against Millwall? Was it on the right or just behind N'gog?

I know its a pretty obscure article, but one quote is worth noting

Tuncay Sanli, Middlesbrough's occasional striker, had the game of his life in central midfield, tackling and creating in equal measure.

Re: Away at Wolves
Nothing went wrong when we played Elmander in central midfield, did it?
Change as little as possible. That means sticking to 4-2-3-1 and starting Eagles in Pratley's place, ahead of NRC and Mavies. As Owen's Eleven said, NRC has to be very diligent, not least because we'll need him to play every single minute there is left this season.
If Eagles isn't impressing, we can replace him with Tuncay, or Klasnic if (shudder) we're chasing the game. But we shouldn't be. As with the games against QPR and Blackburn, there are some saying they'd settle for a point. No: these are the games we should be aiming to win, or leave the division.

Re: Away at Wolves
Never really expected to win against Spurs (although hoping), but I've got a much better feeling about this one. Course, if we should manage to stay up,we'll only start thinking we're Barcelona again and "Coyle out" will be the order of the day.
