Well they're only "sunk" if we do anything to sink them.Jakerbeef wrote:Realistically down to us and QPR now. They're crap in away games and have Spurs at home next.
It's the crucial game for them- if they lose that I think they're sunk. If they win we're going to have to fight tooth and nail.
It'll be interesting to see how we perform with our games in hand. Hopefully Coyle and the players see them as an opportunity and not a margin of error.
We're two points and a fair chunk of goal difference behind.
We've been winning one in every 3.5 games and there aren't 7 left.

Win and a draw, to go above QPR.

when we go to arsenal we lose
chelsea routineley hammer 4 minimum past us

we offer nowt against bigger teams other than surrender
they deserve it and hats off to em and martinez - he fires em up and makes em believe
i just get the feeling our lot write games off and dont bother

Wasn't Whelan discussing the prospect of sacking Martinez only a few weeks back?

Re: Bottom 5 fixtures
A comfortable win for Wigan tonight, it looks like there new system is working a treat 3-4-3 and against fcuking Arsenal at there ground can't get my head round it and we can't even play 4-4-fcuking-2, there out of it now so its between us and QPR if we lose sat and they win then that will be it for me championship here we come. I was extremely impressed with Wigan's fitness levels tonight considering they have played 3 games in 9 days and against the elite teams in our league. Well done Wigan!!

Re: Bottom 5 fixtures
Wigan are lucky not to be burdened with the expectation of a bigger club. If they go down, it's expected, which gives them the freedom to play with fair and try out different things. I don't think us, Villa, Wolves and Blackburn have that same luxury. QPR don't either. Things are so important for us, and we all expect to survive, which makes things so much more tense.
They've done really well though. They deserve to stay up, I think, even after such a poor start.

Not really. He publicly questioned why some players were left out and said he'd be seeing Martinez after which he climbed down and accepted Martinez was right.Bruce Rioja wrote:Wasn't Whelan discussing the prospect of sacking Martinez only a few weeks back?
Got to say Wigan deserve to finish above us for the many reasons Dibble states.Well managed, well run and crucially trying to take points in every game regardless of the opposition. They have become a form team with momentum. QPR and Villa are the ones we need to look at catching. Villa are decimated at present, only the kids left and they are in freefall with a manager who has failed to deal with a similar scenario last year.

Well done to the Piemen... Feckin well done...
We know now the task is to finish above QPR... ATM a win against spurs at home or villa away does it... That is a very difficult call...
but, given what wigan have done... Time to step up...

Re: Bottom 5 fixtures
Its in our hands and if we consistently play the way we played against Newcastle in our final games, we will have a good chance staying up. I still think its 2 from 5, and I include Wigan and also Villa, because we will beat them. Wolves are down.
Wigan are playing amazingly well, but note its against teams who attack. They are not so good against teams that do not leave themselves open against their counter attack and play solid. 34 points is not safe. Villa looking vulnerable and need 2 more points. QPR will fight for their lives, no matter who they play, and will pick up more points.
Its going to be interesting but if I was a gambling man, all things considered, my money would be on us to be one of the teams to stay up.

Strange things happen at the end of a season during a relegation battle....
Re: Bottom 5 fixtures
The Key is playing consistently well not only for 90 min but for the remaining games. Something we haven't really been able to do apart from the 3 game run.
I think Wigan will stay up. They have Blackburn and Wolves to come which the way they are playing you would imagine they would pick up 6 points.
I think Blackburn are down, they looked a beaten team last week.
QPR have Spurs and stoke at Home which dependent on how spurs come back from there mauling at Wembley which if anything like ours they might look like a different team you could see them getting 6 points. but with Chelsea and Man City away and there away form being crap I can't see them getting anything.
Meaning I think Bolton will need 3 wins to stay up from out last 6 games we need more points as our goal difference is rubbish. Swansea at Home, WBA at Home and maybe Spurs. I think I am right in saying that Spurs have never won at the Reekbok, but our home form has been anything but consistent this year. Maybe the return of Lee could be the catalyst to start this off.

Bolton 38
QPR 37
Blackburn 28
Wolves 23

Re: Bottom 5 fixtures
Look at the reality for once. If, big if, we stay up we will be extremely lucky, we have been crap all season!
What I will find the most galling if we stay up will be the complete tools who will see the antichrist Coyle as a hero "for keeping us up", nowt could be further from the truth! This tit was the one who nearly or still possibly took us down. Wigan and the odd other "low" teams have shown that given a decent set up and propper tactics alongside managers able to "get them up for it", the big boys can be bloodied, our wimps put in 5 mins then slump to "glorious defeat".
It is a very tall order for us, given our form and the spineless chickens that disgrace our club alongside the joke called Coyle to win 2 games and get at least a draw but you never know, if we do though Coyle has to go the man is a moron and championship manager at best, somewhere I don't want to be!
WHITES UP, COYLE OUT IS THE SHOUT!!!!!!

Lets be fair, Wigan were gonners in December and all the pie eaters wanted Martinez out.Hoboh wrote:Look at the reality for once. If, big if, we stay up we will be extremely lucky, we have been crap all season!

How they've found this form is just beyond me (its not just bottle and desire, they've found a way of playing and actually their players are looking full of ability, not just bite).
They remind me a little bit of us when we relegated West Ham and went on an amazing end of season run (matched almost by West Ham themselves), a little bit out of nowhere.

Nowt to be fair about mate Martinez has a brain to sort out tactics, Coyle does not, only a prick would find a system that got results then dump it the following week!BWFC_Insane wrote:Lets be fair, Wigan were gonners in December and all the pie eaters wanted Martinez out.Hoboh wrote:Look at the reality for once. Maybe, but perhaps he's just been lucky in that all his players hit the heights at the right time? Wigan just always seem to turn it on at the end of the season.Hoboh wrote:Nowt to be fair about mate Martinez has a brain to sort out tactics, Coyle does not, only a prick would find a system that got results then dump it the following week!BWFC_Insane wrote:Lets be fair, Wigan were gonners in December and all the pie eaters wanted Martinez out.Hoboh wrote:Look at the reality for once.
