Can't see us experimenting any further than the above for the next 2 games.

Not even a question...

Sigurdsson both as a runner/finisher from midfield and as a set piece taker has got me considerably worried.

It is. Look, there's a curly thing on the end of it...

I think Wanderers_on_tour is right - those are the two major questions over OC's selection (assuming he doesn't flip out and drop Steinsson for Alonso, or switch to 4-4-friggin'-2). The midfield three pick themselves, because this is no time to try a youngster or a square peg.

KD has played better than many may have expected, but against Swansea's ball-playing back-line we'll have to do a LOT of thankless closing down and I'd give Ngog the first hour, telling him to earn an ovation. Who we bring on for him depends on the scoreline. Heaven forfend, it could even be Sordell...

On a similar note, and at risk of enraging the-Bowtun-Warrior, I'd see the logic in picking Eagles. Although Miyaichi is probably the more dangerous going forward, Eagles has been known on occasion to work himself into the ground for the team. On other occasions he's been absolute pants, but this is where Coyle needs to display good man-management, by putting round Eagles' shoulder a friendly arm with a velvet-gloved iron fist: "We're closing in on signing Gregg Wylde, who plays in your position. We're hoping to see the return of Chung Yong Lee, who plays in your position. Seize your chances when they come, Chris."

Again, I'd tell Eagles to work particulrarly hard, because Miyaichi would be an excellent sub to come on for the last half hour, stretching tiring defenders (who hopefully have far less motivation than our players).

Let's hope they walk back in the changing room after an 8-0 defeat and say 'well boys, we can cross THAT one off the list' :)

Looking forward to this one. We will see some good football what ever happens (might be from Swansea)

We can't keep a clean sheet and struggle against teams that pass and move like Fulham and Wigan recently but we played very well against a strong and in-form Newcastle team. Going to say 3-1 to the white men.

I would defo go 4-5-1 with N'gog up front and if Swansea do play 3 at the back like suggested in the BEN then that surly helps us as with Petrov and Ryo on the wings we can exposes them down the wings. COYW

What insight have the BN and its 'sources' got into the swansea tactical approach?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Interesting about 343 is it the new 4231 then? Wont be long before outside lefts, inside rights, half backs, outside ins etc are back!

The only way is the old-Bolton style. Full energey, hassle and unsetle them like we used to do with the Arsenal's etc. Times like this you realise the value of Holden and Muamba to the team. If we sit back and let them play possesion ball they'll exploit us out of sight. No method will be any good unless we play full-on and with some belief and reying on set-pieces won't be nearly enough. Get amongst them and boss it.

You mean the system we won the World Cup with? Alf Ramsey, Wilson and Cohen almost invented overlapping full backs in the English game.

Sponge: Thanks.

Interesting re Swansea's decision (whether this weekend or not) to alter their formation. They're in danger of getting found out, and have no Plan B – unlike Norwich, who regularly switch formation and personnel. So did Alf Ramsey, for that matter, before settling on a 4-1-3-2 (as the 1, Nobby Stiles, described it in his autobiography).

It's a must win so we'll do what we've done all season and lose.

The one thing we need that will help us enormously is an atmosphere..
