Don't think I could do it in reverse yet but I'm quite pleased with myself
Well, I would be if I could focus on owt other than breathing
CAPS that's pretty good going. Keep it up and we'll make a marathon runner of you yet!

Re: The athletics/running thread
Is it next weekend yours, verbal? Watching them run on the telly has almost inspired me to run for the first time in ages. Perhaps tonight.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Yep. Watching it is making me excited for next week.
Hope Gary's ok. Slowed quite a bit at 25k and he should have gone through 35k by now :S KEEP GOING!!!

My sons godfather has just finished in 4.05, was chatting with him yesterday and he was hoping for under 4 hours but he has had man flu all week so that's a good time.
GtE has sped up a bit, should be finishing any time soon!

He's finished! Just under 4 and a half hours, can't remember what his pb is or what time he was aiming for but I suspect not as fast a time as he hoped for, presumably because of the injury, but I'm still flipping impressed! What a star! Well done Martin! X

Magnificent. Especially given that it looked like he'd have to pull out a few weeks ago. Well done, mate.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Looks like he speeded up after about halfway. When I see it on telly the start always looks crazy, too many people, maybe that's why. These "elite" runners are cheating because they don't have to start behind a giant icecream.Gooner Girl wrote:He's finished! Re: The athletics/running thread
Thanks everyone. Finished in just under 4 1/2 hours. My legs cramped between 14 and 20 miles which meant I had to run 100 yards and then walk the same until the spasm passed. Pleased to have finished as I nearly pulled out 5 weeks ago. I think that may be my last Marathon.

Piriformis was fine. The gym work really helped. It was the bloody cramps that did it.Gooner Girl wrote:Betcha it won't be! Give it a week or twoGary the Enfield wrote:Thanks everyone. Thats frustrating that it was that that did for you in the end and not the thing you expected. However its good news in that it means all should be ok for your triathlon? Did you beat your PB? Any pics of you in action?!Gary the Enfield wrote:Piriformis was fine. The gym work really helped. It was the bloody cramps that did it.Gooner Girl wrote:Betcha it won't be!
