if he is injured i support the idea of Boyata at RB (today).Sponge wrote:Boyata? Steinsson not even on the bench? If he's not injured, then WTF? Dropped for that one error last week, despite numerous very good performances? Nice one, Coyle.
his physical presence and pace is needed against the very decent Mclean

Hmmm, with going 4-4-2 we'll have to start brightly and can't switch off at the back. Although he seems to have fallen out of favour on these boards Ryo is a nice sub to bring on for the last 30 minutes to get at tired legs. He isn't the saviour no but I still reckon he's a good player and wouldn't half mind having him back at the Reebok next year to learn off of Chungy.

Re: Sunderland Away
Gretar must have been one of the players with a knock from the other night, interesting that Boyata comes in over Mears, who is fit according to Coyle. I imagine SKD will drop into midfield while they have possession, for the first half at least.

FFS- let's not let any speculation about injuries, disciplinary issues, Fascist Spiders from Mars coming to whisk Gretar off to the depths of the galaxy get in the way of some Coyle bashing.
really hope we line up 4-5-1 with SKD wide right and Eagles playing centrally
cant see it though

Steinsson is injured. Could go either way this one, Sunderland gone for three strikers can see Sessegnon causing us a lot of trouble! COYWM!

Re: Sunderland Away
Has to be a injury, even Coyle wouldn't drop Steinsson for a soft mistake against Swansea yet start him a few days later against Villa.the-Bowtun-Warrior wrote:if he is injured i support the idea of Boyata at RB (today).Sponge wrote:Boyata? If he's injured then yes, I'd probably go for Boyata over Mears. But "physical presence"?!
Anyway, COYWM

Solely on the basis of a really weird dream I had last night, I'm going for 1-1 with us to score the first.

Re: Sunderland Away
It looked to me against Villa that even with 2 strikers on in the second half, one was always happy to drop back into midfield every now and again to defend and help with the build up play. Hope to see that again today if times get hard.lovethesmellofnapalm wrote:Sponge wrote:Boyata? Steinsson not even on the bench? If he's not injured, then WTF? Re: Sunderland Away
Boyata has looked decent in limited time on our attacking set pieces, and ok at defending. Just having the ball at his feet is a worry.
Our last Sunderland fixture I watched in a seedy Saigon bar, and left feeling quite sorry for myself. Spewed up on return to the hotel, and wasn't sure wether to blame the copious amount of lager consumed or some dodgy pho! Slightly different this time, on the couch with the trackies on... COYW!!!

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

the lad is a big lad. i wouldn't want to challenge him for a ball at pace, over Mears or Riley (on his day).
presuming he 'wants it' today, i'm happy enough at this stage.
i'll be back to slate OC for picking him if (when) he is torn apart. see you at 4:50pm
