If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

The Edge always had THE best juke-box. There are songs that every time I hear, even now, just take me back to being sat around the pool table in there.

If you're THIS dipsy I suggest an over-sized overflow be fited, so even if you do forget, at one stage as much flows out as is flowing in.

You're calling me dipsy?! Humph! I blame the baby brain (despite the fact that they are 18 months now)

Bruce I worked in the Edge Tavern and spent most of my formative years in there. Between 1983 and 1988 I worked, drank, slept and puked in that fine, fine establishment. I even had my 21st in there. I MUST have known you then.

And yes, the fantastic JukeBox with Hotel California blaring out, the rowdy pool room, the slightly more sedate snug and main lounge area, Lois and Ken behind the bar (I worked for them and the next tenants Vinnie and Eileen). Happy days!

You know - straight up - since the very first time we met I've been wondering where I knew you from. fecking hell, yes. Well it was Lois and Ken that had it when I first started going in. Belting couple. I seem to recall that they moved to Blackpool. Oh, and by the way, if you ever wondered who it was that kept putting War Baby on by Tom Robinson - it was me! :D

Didn't you have long hair back then?

I did, yes. Lois and Ken 'retired' to run a Gentleman's club out Lytham St Annes way. Vinnie and Eileen took over and I carried on working for them, even looked after the place when they went on holiday.

They split up, unfortunately and another couple (Dave and ?) took over in '88 ish. I worked for them until one day I was 'barred'. No explanation or anything just 'not welcome anymore'.

So I relocated to the Mop, town, anywhere really.

Good thing is I'd have never met my missus had I stayed as she hated The Edge and never set foot in the place. Come to think of it that bloody landord's got a lot to answer for.

Well I'm bloody sure that no-one ever met a pretty girl in The Edge :D. In the early 90's the team I was playing for would go back there after a match, and the landlady at the time (Rose?) would put a few sarnies on for us knowing that they'd be more than covered by the amount we'd spend over the bar (half the lads would stay for the duration). Anyway, Rose left and this right nobber took over. So, the first time we go back after the match and miladdo brings the tray of sarnies over, then, when we'd eaten them he comes over wanting £30 or £40. So the next week we just didn't go back, save for a phone call from one of the lads to say "Enjoy your fecking sandwiches, you c*nt" and we decamped to the Bay Mare where Arthur was only too pleased to look after us from thereon in :D

GtE, ( or possibly WTW) maybe you can help me out? My Halliwell days are way back and I've been trying to do the Halliwell mile pub run in my head. From the top it was Ainsworth Arms, then The Rock,( that became Fox and Stork ) then Robin Hood and Raglan Arms (Weavers/Mop down the side), then The Lamb, Belle Vue, Rawsthorn Arms, Pedro's, New Inn (and Gibraltar Rock that closed years ago). ? There were The Connie and Labour Clubs too, and later Trevals, but they didn't count in the mile. Have I missed any out?

Yep, that was one. Bruce's tale of pillock landlords made me grin. I lived in Weymouth Steet down the side of the Lamb and it was my local for years. Landlord left and a right prat, "Harry the Postman" (presumablyfrom a past occupation) took over. We alway played cards Sat and Sunday afternoons till he got all stroppy and started ringing the bell early and turfed us out. We had a confab and, like Bruce's lot, moved our custom to The Tramways on Blackburn Road. First Sunday after, one of the locals informed us he was wandering around scratching his head at an almost empty pub. We stayed away for three weeks and were greeted with open arms on returning. No more early door locks. :D

Last night got a call to say one of my friends who lives down south was rushed into hospital following a suspected stroke. A few hours later I learned via text that he didn't make it. Not angry, not even sad, just numb. Feel a bit helpless.

Commiserations BWFCi. Can't offer any words that will help. Awful thing to happen. I've been there too.
