can you unpack that a bit Hobes? who has "roots in an alien culture" and in what way(s) is it "alien" so that anyone should be wary of it?

I presume you are talking about one of the candidates?

that was the crux of my question! 8) I'm sure Hoboh has a valid reason though - but he's too shy to explain it..

Ok well maybe it is the "perception" of an alien culture that scares people. What I object to is the way you are not allowed to have worries or fears over something that does not tie in, imagined or otherwise, with what you again perceive as the norm without being branded and labelled racist by folk who should know better.
A democratic vote is your choice to choose who you wish to vote for, this is not a decision you should be bullied into by being stereotyped or called a racist because it does not fit the social engineering plans of others.

OK, let's go back to my original point. Around 400 people that opted to vote for the other two IC1 Conservative candidates exercised, as you say, their democratic right not to vote for the candidate that's of Asian decent. Now - why do you think that was?

I would hazzard a guess that they felt he was not their choice to represent them? or maybe the 400 didn't paticularly like him as a person? I don't really know but to brand them racist for their choice is a touch extreme

How about, "who's the best man/woman for the job" Hoboh? That's supposed to be the criteria we're all working towards in running the country, is it not? . In my case, Champra Mystry is as Lancashire as George Formby, lives locally and knows the area and the problems and is a thoroughly decent bloke, as are his whole family. Who better to vote for?

is that just Hoboh's fancy-pants words for skin-colour or having a funny-sounding name?? If not - then whence this perception?

Well, the three of them produced a joint leaflet setting out their aims as a group and not as individuals, so we can discount that. Didn't like him as a person? I find that a little unlikely, don't you? I think there's an elephant in the room here, Hoboh, and I think you know it too. ;)

Seems pretty clear the ones who voted for the other two, but not him, did so on account of his race. I'd be pretty confident calling that racist.

Didn't like him as a guy? Nice try Hobes!

You could try and offer a credible alternative explanation...

What else - seriously - stopped them voting for the dark-skinned Tory?

Not all Tories are racist in this election, obviously... More than a thousand aren't... More than four hundred are... In my calm assessment of the evidence...

That is a fantastic step forward for the Tory Party... a really significant number aren't racist...
