From a Wiganer

Post by Mark_Wigan » Thu May 10, 2012 8:23 pm

Just wanted you to know that us lot are praying you stay up. We had to go to Stoke last season and win to stay up and we are (mostly) all hoping you do the same. Lost Blackburn and would be nice to keep the Lancashire clubs up. Hate QPR and everything they stand for. Cmon you whites!

PS. Sorry if this is a wrong opinion, but I really dont rate Coyle at all. Think he's an awful manager. You could do better than him. Sorry if thats an unfair assessment though.

Cheers for the support fella. A lot of us don't rate Coyle either, but then again, I don't think he's had the best cards to play his hand with this year. Should we manage a miracle & stay up, we will soon find out next season if he's any good or not. Here's hoping :oyea:

As a Wigan based white with half the family Wigan fans and most friends being so, i can confirm you're in the minority Mark - most DON'T want us to stay up

Not to worry. Cheers for your support and words.

most of my family and friends where in that away end 12 months ago. I've even taken to watching some of their videos this week. previously had refused to let myself. i wanted them down SO bad.
ive taken inspiration from the scenes on those videos, this week...

Thanks for your supportive words. As has been noted, most of your kind would love to be in a higher division than their main rivals for the first time in 25 years. Yours is a regional rather than parochial leaning which reminds me pleasingly of my dad - Wanderer to the core, but would rather all Lancastrian clubs do well. Apart from United, of course...

My Grandad (mum's dad) was a coal miner, originally from Lower Ince. When I was a kid he always swore that Wigan would (Then constantly getting knocked back for election to the league from the NPL) within his lifetime get into the First Division. Sadly, he died the day before our 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the 3rd round on Jan 3rd 1993, but at least got to see The Latics into the league. As such, I'm always to see Wigan do well (just as long as it's not at our expense ;) )
May the bridges I burn light your way

Surprised at all the Wigan liking on here but... I'm the same!

My dad's Wigan born and bred but is more into the rugby than the football but I still feel a bit of softness towards them. I'm not sure if I'm in the minority or what when I say this but I find it very amusing when teams like Wigan and Burnley beat teams like Arsenal and Man United... even though Wigan were in a scrap with us to stay up I still had a laugh to myself when they beat United and Arsenal. I'm very anti "big club" and believe everyone should support their local team... oh also well done on staying up, completely deserved. Let's hope we can join you!

Wigan remind me of us a bit. Provincial unfashionable team struggling for support and limelight in an area dominated by glory-supporters.

They have the grit and fighting spirit that we had. I hope we can recapture that spirit this weekend.
