Too many. Too fecking many. Wish we'd have just lost.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Ah. I bought a bottle of Nando's Hot Peri-Peri Sauce from Asda on Friday and when I got home I decided to test how hot it is by pouring out a desert spoon full to test. It's quite hot!Annoyed Grunt wrote:Nandos for dinner.

I find if you put a small amount on your finger and rub your eyes you'll not notice the burning sensation in your mouth.Bruce Rioja wrote:Ah. Me either, though I do like some spicy heat. I know a couple of guys that would always order the hottest curry then bang on like they'd achieved something, a real couple of wankers. I'd be there merrily tucking into a Balti.thebish wrote:never really understood the macho extremely hot-food thing...

It's senseless. However sometimes I eat dishes and just wish they had more of a punch of heat....all depends on the dish.thebish wrote:never really understood the macho extremely hot-food thing...

Peri peri chicken takes quite a bit of spice.
But agreed about the idiots who sweat through the hottest curry on the menu for the hell of it, then can't taste anything for a week....

Couple of lads I used to work with and the owner of one of our suppliers took the 3 of us out. He was part owner of some curry house in Alty.
I ordered a Saag Gosht and apparently that was "soft" and I was a "wimp" because they had a vindaloo..
As though they could honestly beat me up, because I like to be able to taste what I'm eating rather than just feel it!

Early days in an Indian I ordered a Madras (not really having a clue what it was). I had a couple of jugs of water but was told by the experienced scoffers "Oh, there's much hotter than that, you should try etc, etc. Madras actually became my favourite curry level and still is. Anything hotter you can keep. Not really a lover of the mild curries though.

Madras and Rogan Josh are about as hot as I go, Tango. I'm right with Boris on the Saag gosht, my default order anywhere, and the dish on which I'll judge the standards of a place's nosebag (at EastZEast it's fecking orgasmic). My simple rule is that if hurts on the way in, then it'll hurt double on the way back out, and why would anyone want to do that to themselves then?TANGODANCER wrote:Early days in an Indian I ordered a Madras (not really having a clue what it was). Indeed. They didn't add "loo" on the end of "Vinda" for no reason.Bruce Rioja wrote:Madras and Rogan Josh are about as hot as I go, Tango. Missus actually made a Thai green curry last night. FECK ME! It was hot.. I told her to use half a chilli.. She put a full one in.. It didn't even need the half!
I spent the evening downing milk and mopping sweat off my face. It tasted fantastic in fairness, but it was just a little too hot.

I usually have some plain yoghurt to hand. Failing that I've been told a teaspoon of sugar will take the heat away.

I don't like yoghurt. So that's a shitter.
And I have more self respect than eating spoons of sugar...

As a youngster sugar buttys, as well as porridge buttys, were de rigeur.
