I'm so sorry Jaffka, I didn't realise we had to suppress new transfer threads. So here goes, this thread is well rubbish we should go back to Jaffka's old one.jaffka wrote:If there was one person who I believed who would support me in supressing a replacement thread, it was you. I'd have Ben Haim back.
Trouble is I don't think he'll ever see the form of when he was in a white shirt, ever again

Surely the club have attempted to re-negotiate his contract in the light of your recent financial troubles. Then I suppose if the club have offered the deal to him then he's quite within his rights to ask them to honour it, such mercanaries are these playerspowered_by_pies wrote:Mate he's down with us at Fratton earning 36k a week! You're welcome to have him if you can re-negotiate a wage, I'll even drive him up to the Reebok for you if you want!

Re: Summer Transfers Thread
Therein lies the problem. Unlike the SFA rulings where Rangers could terminate the contracts of a number of players to immediately reduce the wage bill, English FA rules don't allow that. They've been twisted so much that 'player power' has become huge.Salford Trotter wrote:Surely the club have attempted to re-negotiate his contract in the light of your recent financial troubles. Our administrator, Trevor Birch, has already said that if he could rip-up a load of the contracts, it'd have been the first thing he'd have done. Sadly, we're not in a position to do that. Only other option is to offer mutual termination - and that involves paying settlements to the players who would want a lump-sum to do so. Something we can't do.
Peter Storrie offered him the contract, even though it was clear as day at the time TBH signed for us we were fecked. Lord knows what Storrie was thinking at the time, but as you said, the contract was offered and so the club had to honour it. Other players in our squad have taken wage deferrals and reductions in an attempt to help stem the flow a bit, but we'll still owe them money at the end of it all. The worst thing is our now former CEO David Lampitt, it's been revealed, has once again come out and admitted the club hasn't paid a second load of charity money. Believe me, that devastates me and other Pompey fans more than the contract fiasco. To watch our club over-spend is bad enough, to then find out those who were running it weren't even paying charity's? And of course you know they'll get away with it as well.
Anyway, sorry, went massively off topic there.

Tbh (pardon the pun) I'd quite like you to start a new thread on this very subject. Have to say i'm horribly out of touch with the current Pompey fiasco and helps us all open our eyes a touch.powered_by_pies wrote:Therein lies the problem. And to add - I applaud such a decision if true.the-Bowtun-Warrior wrote:Informed tonight SKD has signed a 12 month extension
Listening to him post match it was clear he loves the club.
We will need that over the coming months of a very testing summer of much change.
He will do a Job in the championship & I want him at this club next year.
Time will tell if it's confirmed, anyway.

He was a handful today against a couple of Championship CBs so he'll do a job for us for sure but at what point do we break free of the past and build a team of the future?
