Not that it makes the remotest bit of difference now but that QPR 'over the line' goal was from a corner that wasn't a corner. I just wanted to set the record straightWorthy4England wrote:Yup, me too.
Blackburn pengy not give at our gaff, QPR goal over the line etc. etc. What goes around comes around.

Re: Chris Foy
Imagine that first being Kevin Davies on their keeper. He'd probably have got a red and certainly not a goal. Today's game wasn't just about our season or what goes round comes round, it was our future. That's a fact. Thanks Chris Foy.

Dreadful injuries, self-inflicted bad luck and unbelieavable reffing decisions haven't helped eitherTANGODANCER wrote:Imagine that first being Kevin Davies on their keeper. Yeah, I agree with this.TANGODANCER wrote:Can't blame anybody but ourselves for relegation, agreed. That said, how that absolutely blatant foul on Bogdan was allowed to stand is ludicrous. Just seen the Crouch thing again in real close up too,and he was halfway down with a leg behind before he got touched. Okay, the ref probably had to give that, but it's a fact that if he'd done his job on the first and been fair, we'd be celebrating and still in the "Barclay's Premier League".
When I made the thread, I wasn't being angry we were down or pinning all the blame on Foy. That'd be unfair and dismissive of genuine problems we've had throughout the season. However, no matter what happened in the other 37 games, everything was down to this last match and the simple fact is, Foy made two bad calls.
People can focus on the rest of the season all they want but no matter how bad it all was, had Foy made the correct calls today, we'd still be a Premier League club. It hurts to say that, after having such bad luck all season.
There was a poster on here yesterday who said something along the lines of "If luck evens itself out over a season, we'll win 25-0". The sad truth is, we got even more bad luck when we needed some good luck the most.

It was 'in' the quadrant given it was overhanging, but more importantly, you've beaten me with your logic there.Worthy4England wrote:It wasn't, nor was it in the quadrant when it was taken. But having been given and taken, it was over the line.a1 wrote:the qpr thing werent even a corner.
not really the same.
So, the ref got both decisions wrong, and it wasn't a goal. And we all accept if he'd got both decisions right (albeit there wouldn't have been a 'goal' decision had he been right) there wouldn't have been a goal. But we were lucky? Can't have it both ways. Shit refs it weren't a goal, perfect refs it wouldn't have been a goal.
Blackburn we were lucky. Plenty others we weren't. Today grates because not only were they important, but particularly bad. Manager takes massive blame for us being in that position, massive, but I'm still raging at the ref.

I'm raging at the ref too. Imagine if a decision like that decided the title? There'd be absolute uproar.

This is one of the situations where i'd like to see Owen Coyle having a go at the officials. If they mess up they should be held accountable. I don't think we're going to get favorable decisions until referees are afraid of making bad calls against us.
Although that being said it was a tough situation yesterday, complain and he looks bitter.
Im not entirely sure we would've been a Premiership club had he got the decisions right. You don't know how much the QPR fans affected the QPR players after all the final goal was scored after our FT whistle had gone.

Re: Chris Foy
I think thats an important point.City scored after our game wss over.
We've come full circle really...from everton.97 to this. Really its our fault we were down there.
It is frustrating that we will just dissapear and foy will 'get away' with that...should relegate him

Re: Chris Foy
There's a hell of a lot of factors as to why we got relegated. 4 points from the last 8 games is evident enough that we just didn't do enough near the end to carry ourselves over the line.
It's really not been a good season for ourselves. Desperately unlucky at times.

Coyle did have a go at the ref both at the game after the incident, at half time, and then in his post match press conference.Mar wrote:There would be uproar.boltonboris wrote:I'm raging at the ref too. Imagine if a decision like that decided the title? There'd be absolute uproar.

And you are right, QPR were distracted by their bench celebrating at our result. I suspect in some way, our result won the game for Citeh. We'll never know like, but you're probably right.
In the same way that I think the atomosphere and game went flat at Stoke when QPR were 2-1 up. I think had Citeh gone 2/3 up our players would have fed off the fans and probably held on.
Again we'll never know!
Re: Chris Foy
It's hard to quantify but I definitely think it had an impact. After all the players would be seeing how the fans were reacting and getting the idea that it was irrelevant.BWFC_Insane wrote:In the same way that I think the atomosphere and game went flat at Stoke when QPR were 2-1 up.
