Would love to see us maybe getting a few decent young players in who are at championship level now with a decent future ahead of them.

Aye but we have 4 right backs inc Steinsson and one Centre half not including Knight.I've never rated Knight but he did well alongside Ricketts for a spell, wouldnt cost us a fee, may take lower wages and may be good enough at championship level.A one year deal would make plenty sense. Not ideal but cost effective as necessaryTKIZ! wrote:Not happy about the prospect of Knight and not Steinsson being offered a contractBWFC_Insane wrote:http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... ers-832866

The debt skyrocketed under Megson amid big increases in TV revenue and yet he still claimed to have reduced the wage bill. I’ve heard so much bullshit coming out of the club about wages that I just don’t buy any of it anymore.
Besides, if “reducing the wage bill” means “losing Elmander and Sturridge and replacing them with Ngog and Sordell” then I’m not exactly impressed.

Erm, just for kicks like, were you expecting the same quality for less money or something?

Elmander/Sturridge: 18 league goalsLord Kangana wrote:Erm, just for kicks like, were you expecting the same quality for less money or something?
Ngog/Sordell: 3 league goals
I understand you won’t get like-for-like when cutting the wage bill but you would hope the discrepancy would be slightly smaller.

Seriously though, you're expecting us to get another player even close to the quality of Sturridge? We didn't even own him.

No, but with the way Coyle plays we needed to get a goal return that was somewhere in the same universe as what we got last season. 3 instead of 18 just won't cut it when you can't organize a defense.
I just don’t really get why Gartside would be crowing about Coyle cutting the wage bill after we’ve been relegated. “The first plumber wanted $1000 but I went with the guy who quoted $500. I’m still knee deep in toilet water but TEH SAVINGS!!!”

Its because Eddie's credit limit has been reached. We need to become more self sufficient.
In laymans terms, that means we haven't got $1000, so rather water up to our kness than up to our necks.

Elmo/Sturridge 18 goals.... It's easy to forget how prolific elmo was over the 3 years he was hereH. Pedersen wrote:Elmander/Sturridge: 18 league goalsLord Kangana wrote:Erm, just for kicks like, were you expecting the same quality for less money or something?

Sordell/NGog 3 That Sordell! Hopeless,couldnt hit a barn door....
You're kind of bending the truth with those stats tho I get the point! There is also the little matter of who was in midfield at the time.

Yea just seen that NRC is gone, will be a big miss but suppose if he's not prepared to play for us we're better without him

After saying how much he cared about the club etc he could have at least stayed shown loyalty like the rest. Jumps ship when times are hard.

I'm sure he did care.Certainly never shirked or hid or complained. Good luck to him. A relaxing season as a squad player for a nid table club perhaps? He'd be a good signing for one of the promoted clubs

I'm sure he negotiated it instead of a wage reduction in his contract. There'll be plenty of lower Premier League takers. Oh well, onwards and upwards.

When did he say he "cared about the club"?
He worked his nuts off this year, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the lack of professionalism on the staff-side that prompted his decision.
A limited player, but an excellent professional.
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
Shame, but that's another big earner gone.
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
Maybe this is another part of the 50% of the wages reduced.

He showed passion when it counted. What happens now is neither here nor there. Imagine he was a high earner too, guess we're really pinning our hopes on Holden finding fitness now though.
