Whilst im all for youth, particularly our own, being given a chance we do need some experience. An old head at centre back would make sense.

Plus I hope whoever conducted Sean Davis' medical was binned (probably replaced by Coyle's cousin).

It makes sense and is clearly necessary after the straits Megson left us in with his signings. If the likes of Sordell, Vela, Riley, Ngog, Alonso, Ream, and Bogan fulfil their potential, and Holden and Lee are able to get back to their best, the future is looking (relatively) bright.

COYWM.
I think it has to be remembered that all of this could have been done at Premier League level. There was no reason we had to drop down to offload the high earners. In fact if Coyle had shown even a slight interest in organizing his defense then we could be attracting these young players you speak of with the lure of Premier League football, and with a Premier League budget.

Coyle still f***ed up.

It could have been done, yes, but certainly makes it more difficult to stay in the top division. If you are in a position to splash the cash and the wages on a proven 28 year old striker in January, rather than a raw 21 year old, you have a far better chance.

We'd probably get laughed out of Huddersfield!

No.

If they come up they'll keep him. If they decide to sell, we wont be able to afford him. Thats the new reality although to be honest in the days when we could afford someone like that Celtic or Everton or some such usually got in front of us.

He'll go to a Premier League side if he does leave.

Indeed, we need to temper impetous youth with the odd wise head. Seems OC agrees, considering apparent contract offers to Ricketts, KD and Petrov.

NRC can fcuk off as well - who does he think he is....all of a sudden he's too good for a relegated Bolton side that he was a part of.

He did a decent job but he's not as good as he thinks and is replaceable IMO - he won't do much better than us even on a free

Over rated mercenary IMO....enjoy Southampton or Reading

Sounds like Coyle has pretty much the same thoughts as you on this if Nixons tweets are anything to go by. Sounds like Coyle seriously unimpressed with way NRC has handled things so far!

So (if Iles is correct) the deals are on the table – reduced, but there. Including one for Zat Knight, who has been largely hopeless; one for Gretar Steinsson, who has three other contracted players in his position; and one for Ricardo Gardner, which must be a f*cking tax write-off for charity
Marc Iles wrote:Wages paid by Wanderers rose by more than 80 per cent between 2005 and 2010 – and represented roughly 85 per cent of turnover, some 15 per cent higher than FIFA’s recommended level.
At the risk of reigniting the OC/GM/LK/BWFCi thing - wow.
Marc Iles wrote:The case of Sean Davis, who has started just three games for Wanderers in the last three years, exemplifies the situation. The 32-year-old midfielder was recruited on a Bosman free transfer, and top wages, by Megson to anchor the midfield. But after sustaining a serious knee injury shortly after being sent off in his last game, the former Portsmouth star’s salary became a massive weight around the club’s neck. By the time his deal runs out in the summer, he will have cost in excess of £5.4million, or roughly £16,000 per minute played for the club.
Although that probably includes signing-on fees and (don't laugh) bonuses, it averages out at £35kpw.

Right, carry on.

Seeing as every bastard and his wife have had their turn at "I was right all along", am I now entitled to my own personal 5 minute gloat?

I imagine NRC feels the same way about how Coyle handled the entirety of the season.

I don’t blame Reo-Coker, he did his best but it was out of his control.

Apparently we may be in for Romeu on loan from Chelsea. He'd be immense in the Championship.

Never heard of him.

When you say direct replacement, do you mean he can put his foot in?

Romeu has made a good few appearances for chelsea this season, i'd be amazed if he were to agree to join us in the championship because he could get a starting role in a mid table prem team. Still if he does it would be very exciting, potentially as good as sturridge & wilshere for us

No, but I bet you're the only one who had to cross out the word jersey and replace it with the word shirt. :D
