Seeing that info on wages makes it clear that OC and PG are doing what needs to be done (in terms of the signings they are making): where possible bring on young players who will have re-sale value, not 28 year olds commanding high wages and who we have no have no hope of selling for a profit (unless, I suppose, they are available on a free, e.g. NRC). It makes sense and is clearly necessary after the straits Megson left us in with his signings. If the likes of Sordell, Vela, Riley, Ngog, Alonso, Ream, and Bogan fulfil their potential, and Holden and Lee are able to get back to their best, the future is looking (relatively) bright.

I think it has to be remembered that all of this could have been done at Premier League level. There was no reason we had to drop down to offload the high earners. In fact if Coyle had shown even a slight interest in organizing his defense then we could be attracting these young players you speak of with the lure of Premier League football, and with a Premier League budget.

It could have been done, yes, but certainly makes it more difficult to stay in the top division. If you are in a position to splash the cash and the wages on a proven 28 year old striker in January, rather than a raw 21 year old, you have a far better chance.

Romeu has made a good few appearances for chelsea this season, i'd be amazed if he were to agree to join us in the championship because he could get a starting role in a mid table prem team. Still if he does it would be very exciting, potentially as good as sturridge & wilshere for us
