Re: reo coker
See this is what I don't get. Some here a willing to give a free ride to Reo Coker because he put a shift in and has been a decent player. But the fact remains he is still under contract and shouldn't be making noises about leaving regardless of any clause. I understand he's looking out for himself as a professional but it should also be professional of him to button up or not leak anything to the press via his agent. Do it discreetly at the very least.
Now compare that to Zat Knight(admittedly absolute shite), out of contract and now being lambasted in some quarters for not joining us in the the Championship on reduced terms. The veracity of which can't be confirmed but you get my drift. He has played his contract out(terribly) and now owes us nothing.

I thought the general consensus was people were castigating Zat FOR wanting to join us in the championshipDr.Karl wrote:See this is what I don't get. Rumours are we had no competition.bobo the clown wrote:He left Villa on a Bosman last summer. He went before he had an offer, but a number of clubs came in. Probably a stupid question but i am a div
As it was only a 2 year contract he could have been looking in the New Year anyway.
He will have a contract which says he can leave if he wants, now ... but I guess he can stay if he wants also.
So, the ball's in his court, he's done his bit & time will show if he goes. I have NO idea of his home circumstance or geographical preferences, but ... for a free ... I'd have thought all the recently promoted clubs (well, maybe he burnt bridges at Wet Spam & their fans aren't known for their forgiveness but the likes of Norwich, Everton, Sunderland, Fulham, Swansea etc. etc. would be interested).
I'd love him to stay & fight to return next season, but if he doesn't then 'cheerio & thanks'.

Re: reo coker
Thought Sven was offering him terms at Leicester as well... if he was willing to go there then why leave now?
We may have put the clause in to get rid, you know 2 year contract on £40k a week, but if we go down your wages drop by 50% or you can bugger off if you want...

Well, if the release clause is as close as we got to him agreeing a relegation wage drop, then I'm glad he's run his flag up the pole. If someone comes in, we lose a Premier League wage. And if nobody does, then he has to grab their attention.

Heartily agree. Thought he put a shift in but if he doesn't want to stay then thanks and go with my blessingCAPSLOCK wrote:boltonboris wrote:IF he goes, then good luck to him. I'd be a bit miffed if I ran around like a d*ckhead every week for feck all..

Yeah. Way Nixon is talking is that if he formally asks to activate it then Coyle will cancel his contract anyway, so presumably we had that mechanism built in.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:ah, ok.BWFC_Insane wrote:Technically he is until a prem club comes in for him......Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:er... Hope so, would be nice to see the club show some guts. I can imagine we're the sort to bow down to players/agents demands due to the competiton in the market.BWFC_Insane wrote:Not yet maybe, but certainly sounds like his attitude hasnt gone down well.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Shan't yet jump to that last conclusion.

Re: reo coker
Fingers crossed for a bit of pride-swallowing, Newcastle and West Ham low-balling him and a chargrinned Nige' proudly proclaiming his intentions to take us straight back up.

Re: reo coker
Doubt Newcastle would be interested, and he may have burnt his West Ham bridges (although Allardyce wouldn't give a flying one about that).Jakerbeef wrote:Fingers crossed for a bit of pride-swallowing, Newcastle and West Ham low-balling him and a chargrinned Nige' proudly proclaiming his intentions to take us straight back up.
Looking around trying to second-guess who else might be interested, maybe Villa (but again, he's been there...). Sunderland and maybe even Stoke will probably aim higher. QPR, maybe, to replace Barton, or will they be chasing Xavi and Pirlo?
Ah... Fulham.
