All that sounds too familiar.........
Back in for Rhys Williams maybe?
Not a center back is he?
Rhys Williams can play across defence and as a defensive midfielder.

I'd be surprised if it were him.

Nixon already said we won't be going in for Williams again. (Though I'm sure he'll re-hash the story at some point this summer.)

Who is to say Williams won't want out? We went in for him in January so he know we are interested.. another failed season at Boro.. he might think he has more chance of promotion coming to us if there is no Prem teams interested.

I'd be a bit upset if we didn't try for Clayton. Speaking to a Leeds fan at work and he said that he's disappointed that Clayton has been transfer listed as he seemed like 'the only one who had a bit about him in centre mid'
Pfffft.

If Burnley offered 400k, he mustn't cost much more than a million, I'd be disappointed if we didn't try for him

Everything about the Clayton deal makes sense...

Weren't we mooted to be on the verge of placing a £2 million bid on the lad in January? Seems odd we wouldn't show the same interest in the summer when we could get him in for a snippet of that, especially as it's a problem area with question marks over NRC, Holden's fitness, and if Mark Davies may even be off to pastures new?

Although I reckon Nixon is pretty reliable on the transfer front, especially on dispelling the 'fantasy' names like Owen/Rhodes etc, at the end of the day he isn't a employee of the club and I still wouldn't surprised if we made a swoop.

It would be a good P.R. move. Beating Burnley to a player would boost my spirits.

If we've got a small budget, as enticing as this might sound initially, I'd be scared shitless if we were going with kids in the Championship. I'd say we'd get even more murdered than some are expecting.

I know nothing about Clayton and cannot remember seeing him play. My question though (and I am deliberately playing devil's advovate) is why would Leeds only value him at between £200-400k as quoted in the papers? If he is a good player surely Leeds would be slapping a £2-3m pricetag on him.

I believe he's out of contract. So any money would be compensation only (being a youngster, isn't 23 the cut off?)... You get the best part of feck all in the courts.

Problem is Stelios - we don't want to re-sign most of those players as we need to reduce the wage bill

Improvment on current deal or improvement on the lower terms we offered him?
