Oscar Perez is presumably the worst. I mean, c'mon.
Bang for buck, sadly Sean Davis may have to be the worst - although Shittu may run him close. Didn't Coyle eventually choose to pay him off, figuring it better to pay him 50% of his remaining contract than have the poor fella hanging around unloved and unused?

I thought we'd payed up the lot to be honest.

A TV prog a few years ago showed Middlesbroughs chairman Steve Gibson bemoaning the role of agents. Bryan Robson had told him he wanted a player and Gibson said the agent wanted £750,000 just to speak to him. The player was Sean Davis. On top of the transfer fee god alone knows how much 'extra' we paid.
Michael Bridges is a good shout. Folk still thought he would come good and I suspect he was on a huge wedge before we realised he was never going to come back from injury the same.

I thought that report a while back had us paying out several million a season in agents fees?

Yep, now a car salesman with BMW in Bolton, I believe...Lord Kangana wrote:I remember one time a colleague of mine relating the tale of Lee Potter and his mates acting up in a restaurant - throwing food and stuff, and then him hopping into his nice brand new sports car. I have no way of verifying this, but someone mentioned he was on upwards of a couple of grand a week. This is in the nineties, mind. And might be made up shite. Not the restaurant bit though.TKIZ! wrote:Olafur Snorrasson - The new Eidur

fairly sure I read we'd come to a compromise; it's frequently 50%, the compensation being free agency. Mind, if higher, it bumps him up the league of shame...Lord Kangana wrote:I thought we'd payed up the lot to be honest.

Anyone else care to get a “worst XI” going? I’m sure I’ll miss some good ones as I wasn’t following the team for the entirety of the Allardyce era.

I thought the default position was they were all shit, unless they either signed for someone else or were on our long term injury list?

When Our Kid was bouncing at Atlantis, some scrote turned up with his mates after the time at which they'd stopped letting people in. Said scrote then started giving it the big "I am" and asked "Do you know who I am?" Our Kid replied "No, I've no idea who you are, mate", to which the cocky scrote replied "I'm Mat Glennon, Bolton Wanderers Goalkeeper".Lord Kangana wrote:

Not far off with that lot. I've numbered my changes:H. Pedersen wrote:Anyone else care to get a “worst XI” going? I’m sure I’ll miss some good ones as I wasn’t following the team for the entirety of the Allardyce era.
------------------- Oakes -------------------
C. Martin --- Shittu(1) ------- Djetou ----- G. Cid
Mikel Alonso(2) –-- Davis –– Perez --- Fernandes
-------------- Rasiak --- Helguson(3) -----------
1) That Greek bloke we had for about 30 minutes and got sent off, Konstantinidis or something?
2) Blessing Kaku
3) Makukula or Dwight Pezzarossi
Edit: I've just seen this on Wikipedia about Makukula.... WHAT?
"On 16 January 2009, he signed for Bolton Wanderers, on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move costing around £4.5 million in the summer."

Thank God we didn't take that option.
Have to stand by my Helguson choice though. £2.2 million for 7 appearances and two goals. Got paid good wages to sit on the treatment table, as everyone predicted at the time.

Why Alonso? Idan Tal was worse (my opinion).
One of the worst - Ian Walker. Przemyslav Kasofifowhouhsomethinglikethat also. Oakes too.
Not really lucky with goalkeepers indeed.
We'll be back!

I can't remember a single good thing Mikel Alonso ever did. Though if his namesake Marcos goes to jail he could easily replace him on this list.RedStarBelgrade wrote:Why Alonso? Idan Tal was worse (my opinion).
Nothing wrong with Walker. Signed as backup and did what he was supposed to. Saw him have a good game or two.One of the worst - Ian Walker.

Why Oakes? Always thought he got a bum deal off of Fatty. He played one game against Villa, wasn't at fault for either goal (one being an absolute beauty from Hitzelspurger (sp?) and for some reason Allardyce made him carry the can.

I think it's because we haven't actually had any major flops in the goalkeeping department.
