Hot off the press:
Bolton Wanderers have today announced their retained list following the end of the 2011/12 season.

Kevin Davies has signed a new one-year contract until the summer of 2013 and Sam Ricketts has signed a new two-year deal until the summer of 2014.
Discussions regarding new contracts with Jussi Jaaskelainen and Zat Knight are on-going.

Gretar Steinsson, Paul Robinson, Sean Davis, Robbie Blake, Ricardo Gardner, Ivan Klasnic, Mark Connolly, Tope Obadeyi, Rhys Bennett, Dino Fazlic and Tom Eckersley have all left the football club after their contracts expired.
Tuncay, Dedryck Boyata and Ryo Miyaichi have all returned to their respective parent clubs following the completion of their loans spells.
Nigel Reo-Coker has decided to activate a release clause in his contract.

He may be used as cover and not a full time first teamer, we have lost 3 centre halves in Wheater, Connelly and Boyatta.

Annoying agreed. But we have 1 fit centre half. So perhaps they feel Knight will be ok at that level.

Steinsson would have been kept on if he'd managed to stay fit but apparently he is struggling with lots of injuries and has been for two years.

Think its more a wage thing and how woefully short of center backs we are. After all wingbacks are probably the least cementable position at the club as plenty can cover. Heck Joey O'Brien and Henrik Pedersen's shift there can attest to that.
