I like us having the option, if the wages are right (not sure how they work on a loan deal?) but yeh, wouldn't be first choice for me either. Although you can't have too many good players, you can have disgruntled players if we have a number of premier league types on the bench.

I think I have made my feelibgs about Zat clear but I would sign him before myiachi!

2 centre halves OR 1 centre half 1 left back
2 midfielders what can tackle
Goalscorer

before any more wingers not least ones that arent as good as what we have!

I imagine this whole enquiry into Ryo is Coyle's 'plan B'

I hope what you've wrote above is plan A, and I guess if Nixon is really bessie mates with Coyle he won't want him spilling the beans. Don't know if the budget will stretch to a goalscorer mind, may have to just settle for SKD/Sordell/N'Gog.

Could it be that Ryo is considered as a second striker being tricky and two footed etc.For me he looked decent on the left but did nowt on the right. Petrov picked up no end once the competition arrived

The only reason i can see Coyle bringing Ryo back is because he doesn't see Eagles as an out and out winger for next season. I don't blame him either.. Can anybody remember Eagles beating a man down the wing last season and putting a ball in? i think the only time i remember is Stoke at home when Huth was his opponent. Eagles will play more central next season with Ryo & Chungy playing on the right i would think.

Ryo is very lightweight and a 1 trick pony but will do as back up for the long season ahead.

4411 with Eagles playing behind the striker, in the last weeks of the season he really stepped up and contributed to the cause

He was dreadful for week after week. Pretty much everyone on here was criticizing him for it too and he was certainly one of the players who would get singled out after every game for being poor. He did pick his game up but I don't think he's as good as Ryo is, whose football at Feyenoord was very impressive, and I say that as someone who has seen him play quite a few games for them. Admittedly Miyaichi dropped off and Petrov picked it up towards the end of the season but those couple of months don't discount everything else.

A fully fit Ryo on the left wing will cut in, show his skill and be creative, setting up chances. A full fit Petrov will shoot from range and miss by a mile or put one good cross in every game.

I hope he comes back because I'm certain I'll be proved right with what I said. We need quality in the team and Ryo has quality.

I wonder if Owen Hargeaves fancies finally realising his dad's lifelong dream of him playing for Bolton, now he's been released by City?
Okay 80% joking, i know we dont need any more sicknotes, but was he fit & available & just not used at City, or was he injured?

If Owen Hargreaves was interested at a competitive wage that would be a great coup for Bolton. Obviously there's concerns over his wage and the amount of playing time he would be able to do but it would be great to see a player of his calibre at Bolton.

I'd be keen if it was a pay as you play deal. He had that at City I think.. But about £50k.

Obviously, that's unrealistic. But we'd be a good platform to rebuild his reputation. Maybe even a one year deal so he's free to move on should he prove himself capable of actually being on a pitch.

I could live with that - lets face it clubs use footballers as much as the other way round, it would be a good arrangement for both sides. But i think he'd probably want to stay at the top level if he could get a similar deal there...(i can see Big Sam calling).

He played 13 minutes last season !

More than Keiron Dyer ... but less than Sean Davis !!

At least he was on a deal including some 'pay-as-you-play' element.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Bobo i like you but i will slap yo backside if you start not reading things properly too...!
Did he not play because he was injured or because he was just not used, dat is de question, before we start dismissing things completely.

Exactly.

He looked 'lazy' when trying to cover for the man who came 3rd in the 'European Slowest Player of the Year' award.
