On the fast track to becoming a bolton legend
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
The new Lee contract was probably kept quiet because of his injury situation, though normally they are quick to trumpet contract extensions.
Either way it means he's staying or it'll buff up any transfer offers (from people willing to take a pricey punt on a player coming out of a long-term injury.)
All things considered, for the lads sake I just hope he's as good as he was pre leg-break.

I don't see why not to believe the Lee contract extension, but I'd love to know why nobody saw fit to mention it, when surely we needed all the good news we could get.
Even if they couldn't be arsed at the time he actually signed it, it'd have been the first thing I'd have mentioned in my post-Stoke press conference if I were Owen. If Junior Hoillet signed a new deal for Rovers Steve Kean would have the fact tattooed permanently on his head.

Hope to god this news about Lee is true. Give us another year lad and help us win promotion (year and half tops to prove he can still cut it in the premier league) and then go off with all our blessings and win something.

What more could he possibly want to win once he has won the Championship or Playoff trophy?wanderers_on_tour wrote:Hope to god this news about Lee is true. BWFC spent a lot of time last season telling us that no contract talks would take place until the summer. Maybe they felt Lee was a special case and got him to sign an extension on the QT. If word got out they'd have all been in there demanding one too.Tombwfc wrote:I don't see why not to believe the Lee contract extension, but I'd love to know why nobody saw fit to mention it, when surely we needed all the good news we could get.
Still surprised they managed to keep it quiet though.

Pretty good work by the club I reckon, saw we might go down and didn't want a cahill-esque saga so got it sorted even though I think he signed a contract extension just the season before last too. I imagine they might have had an easier time getting him to sign with a broken leg too.CrazyHorse wrote:BWFC spent a lot of time last season telling us that no contract talks would take place until the summer. Edit: Not literally signing the contract utilising his broken leg obviously, before anyone starts!

Gartside says he signed it over a year ago, so presumably before he broke his leg in pre season!

Now we know Lee is under contract long term, I think we can put to bed rumours of him being sold unless someone comes in with a silly £15M bid or something. Which at this stage I doubt.

If I recall correctly, the club struck a deal with Anelka before he was sold, to ensure we didn't get caught out in the "he's on a free in 5 months, therefore we can wait or here's £2m now" scenario.BWFC_Insane wrote:Now we know Lee is under contract long term, I think we can put to bed rumours of him being sold unless someone comes in with a silly £15M bid or something. This may be no different.

Well yes but that ensured a big fee for Anelka.Worthy4England wrote:If I recall correctly, the club struck a deal with Anelka before he was sold, to ensure we didn't get caught out in the "he's on a free in 5 months, therefore we can wait or here's £2m now" scenario.BWFC_Insane wrote:Now we know Lee is under contract long term, I think we can put to bed rumours of him being sold unless someone comes in with a silly £15M bid or something. He also hadn't been out for a year with a serious injury.
And furthermore, Lee is not quite on Anelka levels of demand. In fact far from it.

It only takes one Club to want the player. I suspect you have no notion as to whether he's "in demand or not"
Agreed Anelka hadn't been out with a serious injury.
Either way, longer term Contract is in our favour. I hope he stays next season, but (barring injury) would assume he wouldn't let the door hit his ass on the way out, if we didn't go up first go.

Linked with Slovakia Goalkeeper Dusan Pernis. Lazy reporting i'd imagine as we're likely to start with keepers a lot younger than that. Maybe its just to give Jussi a kick up the arse and hopefully get him to sign.
