I've never seen you walk - but you certainly talk like a priest!William the White wrote:I reckon if you walk like a priest... and if you talk like a priest...thebish wrote:William the White wrote:
Mmm... Don't they keep returning to priest though?
they do in the first verse (because sweeney is holding a priest pie) - but then as they develop their theme - they range far and wide and abandon the priest pie in search of a profession for which Sweeney can't provide a rhyming couplet - then they range further and leave behind the priest gag altogether... heading towards the finale, which is (of course) the judge.
anyway - makes no odds to me as I am no more a priest than I am an actor a lawyer or a sweep or a judge!
the song was a rib-tickler (though maybe slightly longer than it needed to be) - and, as I said before, Imelda Staunton plays her part triumphantly!

That's it. Isn't it?
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Yesterday and tonight... the totally joyful occasion of the annual Creative Writing Showcase, when our graduating students from the Creative Writing degrees at Bolton Uni present stories, poems and drama to friends, family, fellow students and hardly anybody else - but that doesn't matter...
Once more, a great celebration of the creative imagination - funny, moving, savage, eccentric, loving, disturbing and in many other ways like saturday night on bradshawgate...
And Friday night - off to Little Voice press night at the Octagon...

Going to the Apollo tonight to watch the Charlatans.
They're doing the full Tellin' Stories LP in its entirety; an album from their shite phase and one I neither own or have ever heard.
So I guess I'll be the one stood at the bar on my own.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Telling Stories is a good enough album!
How High...great song, Tellin Stories, good, North Country Boy, decent, One to Another, good, the rest is a bit average.
Probably sound shit live though im afraid, i've heard them do those songs live and he's not got the voice to do them justice live.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Watched them at The Academy a couple of years ago. They'd just brought out an utterly shite album and insisted on playing every track off of it at the expense of the good stuff off of Tellin' Stories.CrazyHorse wrote:Going to the Apollo tonight to watch the Charlatans.

Hope you have a better night with them than I did, Hoss.
May the bridges I burn light your way
