He did, yeah. Bratfurt wanted £1m for him. Allardyce's retinue of quacks said "Bollocks - his knee will have gone in six months". Palace signed him for £1m and six months later his knee went.

Clarke came in when Jussi got injured as he was (allegedly?) about to sign for United, in 2001. I think. Maybe.
I always thought his debut (competitive debut, maybe) was away at Crystal Palace... That was back when I got all my info off carrier pigeons though so it could be wrong.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Was Shilton in nets for the semi in the Watford season or the Preston one ? Seem to recall he had a mesmeric effect on Wolves who battered us and couldn't score before running out 2-1 or was that much much longer ago?

Remember him coming on to make his debut at Stoke at the Victoria after Adi Davison fecked up, conceded a penalty and got sent off. The first time that Peter Shilton ever touched a match ball whilst playing for us was to collect it from the back of the net! :(

What was the name of the centre-half that played a couple of games at the back end of that season too. Was it John Draper? The name seems about right, but I can't remember clearly.

Dreyer, vague memories of my mate shouting some abuse to him from the paddock and then some old dear turning round who then give him a bollocking!

Anyone remember that Wolf man that Wolves had playing for them, he looked like an extra from Braveheart and played like one.

Yeah, we ended the Play Off final with four strikers on the pitch because we were so short of bodies - Super and Owen playing the wings with then-winger Tomo playing central midfield after one of the worst individual performances I've ever seen in a Wanderers shirt by Neil Macdonald saw him subbed at HT.
