Carlos Sánchez Moreno.

Perhaps he's the only Moreno we can afford to go for these days.
... and ?

Why would a player from Columbia, playing in France, who has offers to play in Italy, as well as join a club at a higher tier and 25 miles from London not see us as the automatic choice ?

Even if I've never heard of him I miss him now !! :hang:
The only possible reason he would come here other than those other places is money.

Hence I can't see it happening.

Well, we're not France. So that's got to be a great start!

We're not only 25 miles from London - we're a lot further away - that's 2 great reasons!

He's only rated 74 in FIFA 12 so he's probably not that good ;)

My first thought was 'I bet he is shit hot on Football Manager'.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Could you provide a point of reference for the non-geeks amongst us please? ;)

How many FIFA 12 points is, say, Darren Pratley?

Well then that proves it that he should not be signed, we should be looking at midfielders with a skill rating over 76 in order to improve on what we did have.

Your spot on there, that boy Miguel Veloso for Portugal looks at player, think he's rated 79 so I hope we are interested in him

I'm watching Ecuador v Colombia and this Sanchez guy is very much a holding midfielder, almost playing as a third centre-half at times.

He'd allow Holden to be the box-to-box player he was so successfully before he got injured.

For a holding midfielder we could do worse than Osvaldo Alonso at Seattle. Tough tackling, tons of stamina, ideal for the English game, and only makes $185,000 a year, so cheap. The issue would be that he's a Cuban defector and thus the work permit could be tricky.

Scored ths goal on Tuesday.

Is anybody else still concerned at our attacking options for the new season? The top scorers in the Championship last year were Ricky Lambert (27 goals), Vaz Te (22 goals), and Billy Sharp (19 goals). Do we have a striker who can score more than 15 goals a year guaranteed? Of our front three (Davies, Sordell, N'Gog), I fail to see a proven goalscorer. Sordell only scored 27 goals in 4 years.

In my opinion there are 8 or 9 teams all vying for the top 6 spots, so the ability of our strikers to become consistent goalscorers is a top priority if we are to have any chance of promotion.

There a million other things to be concerned about before strikers. A second centre back would be a start..................

Yes, you're right.

I was so optimistic after the season ended. Now I can't see how this team are going to compete. UGH!

OC, PG and even Nixon keep saying we are very strong for the championship, no we're not. We already had a small squad but we let around 15 players leave so we have little variety. We lack the key players and even amount of players to compete for promotion. Wheater's injured and Knight looks to be leaving, who's our centre backs ? Left back is still a position we lack and I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't sorted. At the minute our midfield consists of 3 players - Pratley, Davies and Vela. Two of these players have proved unable to play centre mid and the other looks promising but hasn't played a full 90 minutes at first level. We are relying on Holden to be the same player he was and even expecting Muamba to play again is unfair. We are actually quite strong in wingers - Petrov, Chungy, Eagles and Wylde, these players are fine. We have 3 strikers. 1 is ageing and unfortunately that day is coming, another 1 of them started most games and scored 3 goals and Sordell has hardly proved himself for Bolton but he has scored goals in the championship. Realistically to fight for promotion we need a replacement goalkeeper, two or more centre backs, left back, ball playing midfielder, defensive midfielder and another striker who can actually score.
