He did - pretty sure we were 3-0 up by half time. Seem to remember them scoring a bizarre own goal, too. Shilton played like an 80 year old. Seem to also remember also it being the game after the Anfield game and Rioch was upset by the (small) size of the crowd.
My vested interest being it was my first ever game...Seagraves and Walker scored as well.
You only started coming 'cos we beat Liverpool. JCL. JSL :P

Plymouth was indeed first game after Anfield, we won 3-1 to jump from ninth to sixth on our inexorable climb from 18th in October to 2nd in May :pissed:

Five internet points if you can name the team who beat us 3-1 away in between the two games against Liverpool... our only loss in 14 league games...
I do - it's the game I was going to that I mentioned in the Bruce Rioch thread. ;)
May the bridges I burn light your way

Met a bird at work the other day named Bogdan. Asked her if she was Hungarian and she said no Polish and that in polish Bogdan means "gift from God", not sure what to make of it but I'll take Boggers over Jussi with the fact he is from God as the tie breaker.

No, it means "couldn't kick in a straight line even if my life depended on it" actually. ITK.

most of jussi's kicks went in a straight line - it's just a shame such a lot went in a straight line out for a throw in!

According to my grandad who is Hungarian, Bogdan is a known gypsy surname in Hungary....our Bogdan doesn't look much like a gypsy though to be fair.

Jussi will be back, his family are staying in the Northwest and there maybe plans afoot for a role at the club when he does. Hes such a nice guy would imagine coach with the kid would fit perfectly.

I dont blame him one bit for leaving, he would of be offered reduced terms and have to fight it out with Bogdan with us, or get a wage boost for 2 years and play first team football, IMO he will be first choice at West ham wanderers. oh and the small fact he will be in the Prem still.

My question is how come one manager sees him fit enough to play premiership football week-in week out were as our manager decided he wasnt up to scratch?

maybe because the situation is not the same at all clubs. Clubs with a poorer GK than Jussi would give him top-spot. Teams with a better goalie than Jussi would give him no.2 spot...

no mystery here!

Not only that but age does play a part. I've no doubt he would've been first pick had he been playing how he was a couple of years ago. Form differs, just like the reasoning behind dropping SKD.

Though Jussi has just been snapped up by a premiership club. Were Bogdan on a free I'm not so sure that the same would have happened to him.......

really???

are you suggesting we should have given jussi a new contract (whatever he wanted) and dropped Bogdan?

No, purely down to age.

I do think Jussi should have been in goal last season, especially during the run in though. And on balance whilst Bogdan clearly can improve and become great and Jussi is only going to last a few more years, I still think Jussi is the better keeper for the here and now.

However, clearly no point in paying Jussi big wages down in the championship.

No, purely down to age.
so - your argument is that it is a great decision for West Ham to sign him at this age and put him as number one keeper in the premiership..

but it would be wrong for us to sign him at this age and put him as number one in the championship?
