Right now it is 30 something degrees and sunny here, Tango. But when it rains, it rains. Take my first wedding anniversary (May 29) - it rained for only fifteen minutes but it really came down.

It became quite pretty when the storm drains blew their covers.

Some rain indeed Monty. Our is more Shakespearean: Falleth as the gentle rain etc, but it's bloody persistent.

That stuff they call mists in Scotland? Summer rain in Lancashire used to be pretty depressing - perhaps it is less dreary now they've cleaned up the air pollution. Here we get a couple of weeks of that sort of thing in what passes for a brief Spring between winter and summer - and the same in November. By and large we are lucky, getting an average of 2026.8 hours of sunshine annually (Bolton gets around 1200).

Since the dark satanic mills all closed and coal fires got banned we haven't really seen a fog or even decent mist, in years in Bolton. Not that we want any of those "hand in front of face" pea-soupers back, or not being able to see from one end of Burnden to the other and having to guess what was happening. :D

Key's.

Swallow a glass of very cold keys & then hold your breath whilst standing on your head.

Sorted.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Universities. My daughter is being ripped off royally by Leeds, my niece is about to be ripped off by York to the tune of 9 grand per year for less than 2 days tuition per week and her mate, who is hoping to go to Newcastle in 2013 has been told that an indicative figure for next year's fees is 16 grand per year for a teaching degree. As a Newly Qualified Primary teacher on around 22k, she'll be carrying around 50 grands worth of debt (And that's without adding in any living expenses)!! How is that socially just, or justifiable in any way, shape or form???

listed quite a lot of stuff on freecycle today in anticipation of the move - right proper clearout!

I have listed an old teachest, a mountain bike, 2 reclining armchairs, some display cases and an antique piano stool...

the SAME person has replied instantly to every single offer with the one word message:

"can i have this please"
