Depending on the opponents, they're usually a laugh. We stayed over in Scotland for a few nights a couple of year back when we played Falkirk and St Johnstone, reet good laugh. Then there was the trips to Germany/Holland as well.BL3 wrote:Do people really travel to pre-season friendlies? I wouldn't bother even if i lived in Portsmouth.
Only thinking of bothering with Accy Stanley though this summer.

I thought you were originally promising to arrange yourself a meeting and then pick everyone up on the way!!Bruce Rioja wrote:Was about to say - I wouldn't be going to this even if it was a home game!BL3 wrote:Do people really travel to pre-season friendlies? I think you said you could go via East Sussex...Bruce Rioja wrote:
I knew I could depend on youI shall have to recant by dint of me (a) exercising my right to change my mind but chiefly (b) me having no chance of arranging any such meeting by way of it being at the end of my first week back after two weeks off, so I'll be office-bound for the week. You weren't getting a lift anyway
(are you sure about me offering a lift to anyone, the route from here to Portsmouth doesn't take me anywhere near anyone. I can pick people up on, say, the way to the south London games though)
anyway - you're right - there's no sensible route that takes you past Babbacombe! (where I will be in 6 days' time) {gulp}

Babbacombe's lovely. Been there. Including the model village.
Portsmouth's not lovely. Won't be going, for previously-explained reason: Pompey mate's urging me to boycott it.

Babbacombe's nice, went to the model village (check out the miniature football stadium there, which has a streaker running across the pitch !), and to some other victorian times type place (Bygones i think) which was ok but lil bit steep for what you got.
Re: Portsmouth away, 4th August

Yes that's it, we parked in some car park just to the right of it. Nice high street, will pop in for a scone next time we're down there !(which is in about 8 weeks actually, though i think we're only staying in Exmouth this time
