Well it would if that were true. In fact only half the squad were even semi-regular starters in the Premier League last season...bedwetter2 wrote:The fact that Pearce has selected mainly known Premier League players makes your argument look very silly indeed.

Re: Olympic Squad
The Sord did more in 10 minutes than Davies did in the previous 80 against Stoke on the final day. I'm still baffled at why he wasn't used during the season, and why we signed him in a relegation fight if he was "one for the future". Don't really care about international football from an English(or British) perspective but I hope he sets the Olympics on fire.
And Rodrigo has been selected for Spain too.

If its gonna be premier league standard football, United Arab Emirates under 23s are gonna have to work their socks off.BL3 wrote:Well it would if that were true. But the majority come from PL clubs. The most notable non-PL players are the Palace pair.BL3 wrote:Well it would if that were true. Re: Olympic Squad
I don't disagree that a section of the Olympic teams will be distinctly underwhelming in the same way that BWFC were in the PL last season. The key is that some will be high quality and those are the ones which will provide the strong competition. UAE don't come into that category.Jez wrote:If its gonna be premier league standard football, United Arab Emirates under 23s are gonna have to work their socks off.BL3 wrote:Well it would if that were true. There aren't any players from Crystal Palace in the GB squad ...bedwetter2 wrote:But the majority come from PL clubs. Re: Olympic Squad
As far as I know Wilfried Zaha is in the GB squad although Clyne (who was first mooted to be in the squad) doesn't appear to have been selected.BL3 wrote:There aren't any players from Crystal Palace in the GB squad ...bedwetter2 wrote:But the majority come from PL clubs. Re: Olympic Squad
England have Marv, Brazil have Neymar, Pato and Hulk. So it goes.

Likewise your initial point seems to be questionable and my assertion is correct in that 15 of the 18 confirmed squad members are players with PL clubs. Silly boy.

Re: Olympic Squad
I'm not arguing about whether a player plays for a 'Premier League' club, i'm pointing out that around half the GB squad were not regular starters in the Premier League last season. Then again, i'm assuming you know that West Ham and Southampton weren't actually in the Premier League last season because you don't seem to know who is in the squad, or even who we're actually playing in this tournament.

Re: Olympic Squad
You were the one who stated "last season". I merely stated that the majority of the squad play for PL teams and even you must be aware that West Ham and Southampton fit that description unlike Bolton Wanderers who failed to maintain their position under your tutelage. It was you who qualified your statement Owen.BL3 wrote:I'm not arguing about whether a player plays for a 'Premier League' club, i'm pointing out that around half the GB squad were not regular starters in the Premier League last season. As to who we are playing in the 'Lympics I would have thought it obvious to everyone that this is a free-for-all single game with every nation which is fielding a side putting their chaps on the pitch. Could be difficult to see the ball.....or the ref

You were called out for constantly correcting and hijacking threads yourself to have pointless arguments with people. You've done it on two threads. Your way of communicating is overly aggressive, hence the assertion that we should be discussing, not arguing. Calm it down.
