Had Spanish omlette and salad for tea tonight with buttered Hovis. Simple, but nice change.

Asda 'Extra Special' baby tomato, mozzarella and pesto pizza - a steal at £2. Added by me - Green jalapenos, red jalepenos and three different kind of salami. Couple of glasses of Prosecco.

It's as good as that genre gets, I suppose. Don't ever get pasta in there though - they can't cook it for shit. It's that overcooked they serve it like porridge.Annoyed Grunt wrote:Had the American Hot pizza......twas very nice. Every time we go to F&B, Mrs BP says that she is going to try something different. Every single time she ends up with the American Hot. Whilst I do like a nice pizza, I do think that it's a waste to order either that or pasta in any restaurant imo, unless in Italy of course.Annoyed Grunt wrote:Had the American Hot pizza......twas very nice. Mrs BP's home made pizza though.

Normally have different...last time was the Meatball Siciliana calzone, time before that was the Black Pepper Mayo Burger.
Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
It's fairly shite. But as said it's probably the best of those generic cheapish restaurants. Went to Ask a few weeks ago and the food was, tbf really good, I had a risotto and she had sea bass, but it was really dear, even with voucher codes (which are ace and we use allll the time). For that money could have had a meal in a proper nice place.

Not much for me tonight after a splendid lunch at The Fleece in Dolphinholme. Well worth a ride out, great food and very reasonable, with a rather large choice of cask ales. Venison burger was done to prefection

Uma mesa para um, faz favor. Obrigado.

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
The last time that I visited a Cafe Rouge, my mate and I ended up at the one on Chiswick High Road. I can never remember which way croque-monsieur and croque-madame go about, but anyway, the one with no egg involved was on the menu, and the one that involves a fried egg wasn't. My friend, quite foolishly, requested the one with an egg on. After a couple of minutes the waitress returned to say that the chef was unable to supply the one with an egg on. After a minutes worth of "this man that's unable to fry an egg calls himself a chef, etc." it turned out that it was all to do with the tilling system and that they had no way of charging for it.BWFC_Insane wrote:Cafe rouge is usually decent for a chain place.....

Went in that Ask the other week for lunch, and I'm sure (at least fairly) that its something like £7.99 for start, main and a beer, or something. Really wasn't bad for that price.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Don't know if you got a deal, or if I got ripped off. Went to the one on middlebrook, had a 20% off meal voucher, we shared two starters ( I mean bread and olives, nothing fancy), and then I had chicken and mushroom risotto, she had sea bass. The bill, with a glass of wine for her, and a small Peroni (or Perono) for me, was over £45. So, being generous and calling the booze a tenner (the wine isn't cheap there, and no 20% on that) that's £35 for bread and a main course for two, no booze, with 20% off, for a chain restaurant. Wasn't happy, despite it being 'good', for a chain.

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
This bestrides two topics but hey, I'm a maverick like that.
Saturday eveneing my wife and I took my daughter to the West End to watch Matilda. It was absolutely fantastic and Tim Minchin has to be applauded for his music and lyrics, especially the Alphabet Song.
Anyway, the reason I've posted in this thread is beforehand we went to a (recommended) restaurant called Belgo's. It's a subterranean eaterie which serves mussels in a variety of sauces but most importantly belgian beer. I had Thai Moules with a lemongrass, coconut and chilli sauce and my wife had Moules with champagne and lobster bisque. Washed down with a raspberry fruit beer was delicious. Sour cherry and hot chocolate sauce waffle to finish.
Three courses for the 3 of us was just short of £70. Not bad for the area. If you go at certain times your menu items are that price. So if you arrive at 5 p.m. all your mains are £5.00.
And the waiters and waitresses are dressed in Trappist robes.
It was superb and I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you're out and about by Seven Dials go to Earlham Street and it's opposite the Donmar Theatre.

You won't be disappointed. I meant to mention the seating is very informal. Benched seating where you could find yourself as part of an 8 share (although there were some two seaters available). Got talking to a chap next to me who had been visisting the place for years and who apparently, at one time was pastry chef at the Savoy and Head Pastry Chef (LK?) at the Ritz before retiring to the New Forest.

Oh man, you're missing out. You need to view these things as being merely a starting point.ohjimmyjimmy wrote:I had one of them last week from ASDA, and blooooomin nice it was too.Bruce Rioja wrote:Asda 'Extra Special' baby tomato, mozzarella and pesto pizza - a steal at £2.
