Don't feel strongly either way but I do think it will be quite nice to have it written in the garden that it was paid for by the people of Bolton.

As I've stated before it was never intended that the statue and gardens are paid for entirely by contributions but it was thought that the wider "football family" would welcome an opportunity to be part of the process if they so desired. Both the family and the club are making significant contributions which is, I understand, what Nat's family wanted.
If you don't want to contribute you don't have to, end of story.

Correct. In fact it was the supporters group who first approached the club who actually made the suggestion that the fans would like to contribute. It wasn't the club's idea to ask the supporters to pay for the whole thing.

i didn't expect anything from the club. they think about the bottom line and we think with our hearts. and even they realise it is in poor taste to try and cash in on such an event - ie increased footfall at the ground to see the statue - let's flog some related merchandise in nearby shop. However if they facilitate the fans' desire to honour a hero - they will be seen to endorse the wishes of the fans.

Let's wait until the final accounting is done. Personally I would bet the club makes a substantial donation to the final cost.
